The Year's Hottest New Movie

Big ups to the folks at the ubiquitous Fark.com for passing along the theatrical trailer for what is sure to be the year's hottest movie: O.J.'s Eleven.

You can watch the film to get the full lineup, but rest assured that every prominent criminally involved athlete -- with the possible exception of Barry Bonds -- makes an appearance. Not gonna lie: after five seconds or so, I expected this to suck. It most decidedly does not.

Random YouTube Magic: Vick's Sports Future

In honor of NFL Opening Weekend, here's Michael Vick at at Baltimore's Kurk Lee Charity Game. Expect him to spend a lot more time shooting hoops in the years ahead. Minus, of course, all the Lamborghinis and Bentleys in the background.

Random You Tube Magic: Dmitri Young and The Edge

What? A funny video on You Tube involving Da Meat Hook? It can't be. But yes, it's true. Dmitri Young gets into it with pro wrestler "The Edge" in an old (circa 2005, I think) where Edge puts down Young, the Tigers, the Pistons, and even the Lions (shocking, I know) ... at the Joe Louis Arena no less. Meat Hook and the Detroit fans, who broke out into a totally spontaneous "Lets Go Red Wings" chant (probably the most spontaneous part of the whole show), get the last word and chase Edge off the stage.

Where are they now? Edge, who was blasted by Young for never having won a world title during the clip, went on to win two of them. Young, after being released from the Tigers after battling domestic violence charges and alcoholism, is now battling for the National League batting title.

Young MC, KRS-One and Kool Moe Dee Would Like to Take You Through the 1980s

Wow ... I thought I was done with Young MC. But here he comes, surfacing in 2007, in a video about the best sports moments of the 1980s. And it is phenomenal.

He's joined by KRS-One and Kool Moe Dee, along with a cast of characters who don't often get mentioned in rap songs. I'm talking about Larry Mize, Andre the Giant, Mary Decker Slaney, and Diego Maradona, Mary Lou Retton and Keith Smart ... all in the same song. And did I mention Young MC? I guess Tone Loc was booked.

Congrats to the people at the Best Damn Sports Show for putting this thing together, and thanks to the reader who sent it in ... I have no idea even how old this thing is. If you're a child of the 80s, this'll take you back ... don't just stand there, bust a move.

Was Randy Moss Almost a Summer Celtic?

With Randy Moss headed to the Patriots, the city of New England is (hopefully) excited about what he'll do for their offense. Ironically, this isn't the first Boston-ish franchise to look to Moss for a shot of adrenaline. According to The Herald, the Celtics once tried to add Moss to their summer league team:

"We had a couple of conversations with his agent at the time," [former GM Chris] Wallace said yesterday of Moss. "I think there was even some interest from his agent, but it never went anywhere. I just remember that he had been considered a very good player in high school, and he was always talking about his desire to play."
Although Wallace admits that this would've most been done to "spice things up," it wouldn't have been so outlandish. Tony Gonzalez, Julius Peppers, Donavon McNabb, and Antonio Gates all held their own on their college squads, and dudes like Terrell Owens and Daunte Culpepper have been known to let loose in charity games.

Damon Jones: Man Of The People

It's really too bad his skill set is so limited, because Damon Jones' personality is off the charts. Most people find his shtick annoying; when he wore that red suit (with black shades) at the All-Star game last season, we recoiled in horror before going back to asking, How does that worthless little sh*# manage to get such good seats year after year?!

If he was an All-Star caliber player, I have no doubt that countless blogs would be devoted to round-the-clock Jones coverage. Watch the video below and witness how he takes command of the room, and makes everyone else on stage seem completely irrelevant (including LeBron!)

After seeing this video, I'm making "my jumpshot is like a layup" part of my everyday vocabulary.
