What kind of sports fan would drop well over a hundred dollars for the jersey of their hated rival? An Eagles fan with a deviant idea, of course.

One loyal Birds fan who contributes to Bleeding Green Nation thought it would be a good idea to purchase a Tony Romo jersey and have it altered a bit. He writes about putting the jersey on for the first time:

i almost threw up ... im dead serious ... my gag reflex kicked in like 3 times putting it over my head but i still didnt have second thoughts of my purchase ... and i want to know the oppinions of you guys would you honestly rather have romo then mcnabb ?

Now, we're sensing a tinge of sarcasm from our fellow Eagles fan.

Wade Phillips 2-and-Done in Dallas?

As Wade Phillips prepares to open his second training camp as the Dallas Cowboys' head coach, Dallas Morning News columnist Jean-Jacques Taylor has an unpleasant message for him: It will be your last. Taylor says of Phillips:

He'll either take this team loaded with talent and win the Super Bowl and ride off into the sunset afterward. Or the Cowboys will fall short of their goal, and Jerry Jones will give him a golden parachute to leave so he can promote Jason Garrett.

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones is obviously enamored with offensive coordinator Jason Garrett and obviously envisions Garrett as a future Cowboys head coach, but I'm not so sure that Jones wants to get rid of Phillips that quickly. Jones basically wants two things out of a head coach:

1. Win more games than you lose.
2. Let me call most of the shots.

Phillips qualifies on both counts, and as long as he keeps qualifying on both counts, I don't see Jones pressuring him into leaving. But it says a lot about the Cowboys that Phillips enters the 2008 season with at least one local columnist saying that whatever he does, he's out of a job in seven months.

Terry Glenn 'Would Love Nothing More' Than to Stay a Dallas Cowboy

As fellow FanHouse-r Ryan Wilson told you earlier, the Dallas Cowboys and receiver Terry Glenn are reportedly back talking again and trying to mend some fences. Glenn and the team have been at odds for most of the offseason.

Glenn is now saying all the right things, including wanting to stay a Cowboy:

"I want [Cowboys owner] Jerry [Jones] to understand that I know he has the ultimate power in everything that goes on with the Cowboys, and I'm not trying to challenge him in any way, shape or form," Glenn told Werder earlier this month. "He can -- and will -- determine the outcome of this because it's ultimately his decision. But what I want is to remain a Cowboy. I've been here for five years and I've made Dallas my home, and I would love nothing more than to be a Dallas Cowboy."

Being humble to the owner is always a great start and stroking Jones ego is always advisable. This is a long way since the two sides were bickering about an alleged injury settlement. Even Jones thinks the notion that Glenn is challenging him is wrong.

"It isn't my will against Terry's," Jones said. "That's ridiculous."

So we could have this thing wrapped up in the next month, just in time for training camp, eh?

Jason Whitlock: What Don Imus Said Warrants Discussion, Imus Himself Doesn't

The whole Don Imus/Adam "Pacman" Jones uproar didn't last very long, did it? It was like one minute everyone was getting upset, and the next minute everyone was asking, "Why should we care what this guy says?" Even Al Sharpton seems to have moved on.

But Jason Whitlock has a column at FoxSports.com in which he argues that while we shouldn't care about Imus, it actually is worth addressing the point that Imus claimed he was trying to make in asking "What color" Jones is.

Whitlock writes:

My point is that what Imus said warrants discussion. We just don't need to discuss Imus. He is not our problem. Pacman Jones, with his off-field antics and stupidity, has done more damage to the image of American black men than Don Imus could ever hope to do.

I seriously doubt Imus actually cares about the high rates of arrest and incarceration of African-Americans in Jones' age group, but if there was any chance that the Imus brouhaha could have provoked an intelligent discussion of that issue, I'm sorry it disappeared so quickly.

Pacman: 'I'm Truly Upset ... Obviously Mr. Imus Has Problems With African-Americans'

Don Imus claims he was trying to defend Dallas Cowboys cornerback Adam "Pacman" Jones when he responded to a report about Jones arrest record by asking, "What color is he?" But Jones himself doesn't appreciate what Imus said.

The Dallas Morning News reports that Jones had this reaction when told what Imus said:

"I'm truly upset about the comments," Jones said. "Obviously Mr. Imus has problems with African-Americans. I'm upset, and I hope the station he works for handles it accordingly. I will pray for him."

WABC, the radio station that syndicates Imus, has said it accepts Imus's explanation and will not discipline him. Imus was fired from his last job for calling the Rutgers women's basketball team "nappy-headed hos."

Don Imus Claims He Was Defending Adam 'Pacman' Jones Against Racist Cops

Don Imus spoke out on his radio show today about his comments yesterday regarding Dallas Cowboys cornerback Adam "Pacman" Jones. Here's the audio:

Talking about police treatment of Jones, who has been arrested several times, Imus said, "What people should be outraged about is that they arrest blacks for no reason. There's no reason to arrest this kid six times, I mean maybe he did something once but everybody does something once -- I have. ... They shoot blacks for no reason."

Imus later added, "I know there's some people who want to get me, but you're not going to get me for this. It's ridiculous."

Don Imus on Pacman Comment: 'I Meant He Was Being Picked on Because He's Black'

With another controversy about racially tinged remarks swirling around Don Imus, the radio jock has offered an explanation for his latest comments.

On today's show, Imus and on-air partner Warner Wolf were discussing Dallas Cowboys cornerback Adam "Pacman" Jones and his long arrest record. Imus asked Wolf, "What color is he" and when Wolf said Jones is African-American, Imus said, "Well, there you go. Now we know."
Asked in an e-mail message from a New York Times reporter what he was trying to convey, Imus replied, "I meant he was being picked on because he's black."

That is going to be a very, very difficult claim for Imus's many detractors to swallow. Mike Florio at Pro Football Talk put it best: Imus doesn't deserve the benefit of the doubt on this. If he had a history of pointing out that police unfairly target black men, his words could be understood in that context. But in reality, Imus has a history of racially insensitive comments, which suggests that he meant not that Jones has been arrested because the police like to arrest black men, but that he is a criminal because he is a black man.

Al Sharpton Considering Action on Don Imus Adam Jones Remarks

This morning Don Imus responded to a report on his radio show about Dallas Cowboys cornerback Adam Jones' legal troubles by asking, "What color is he."

Within hours, Al Sharpton had issued this statement:

"I find the inference of his remark disturbing because it plays into stereotypes. Any use of stereotypes is always counterproductive. We will determine in the next day or so whether or not his remark warrants direct action on our part as we did in April of last year."

The action in April of last year that Sharpton refers to was his group's organized boycott of Imus and his sponsors, which eventually resulted in the cancellation of Imus in the Morning. He was off the air for several months before ABC Radio Networks brought him back late last year.

Don Imus, the radio jock who was fired last year for calling the Rutgers women's basketball team "nappy-headed hos," has once again put his foot in his mouth in comments related to the world of sports. Pro Football Talk passes along the audio:

When one of Imus's on-air partners, Warner Wolf, discussed Dallas Cowboys cornerback Adam Jones' legal troubles, Imus asked, "What color is he." When told that Jones is African-American, Imus said, "Well, there you go. Now we know."

Wolf: "Defensive back Adam 'Pacman' Jones, recently signed by the Cowboys. Here's a guy suspended all of 2007 following a shooting in a Vegas night club."

Imus: "Well, stuff happens. You're in a night club, for God's sake. What do you think's gonna happen in a night club? People are drinking and doing drugs, there are women there, and people have guns. So, there, go ahead."

Wolf: "He's also been arrested six times since being drafted by Tennessee in 2005."

Imus: "What color is he?"

Wolf: "He's African-American."

Imus: "Well, there you go. Now we know."

Terrell Owens Missing Dallas Cowboys' Minicamp, Wade Phillips Calls It No Big Deal

It's still not completely clear why wide receiver Terrell Owens is not attending the Cowboys' mandatory three-day minicamp this week, but the Cowboys' brass insists that it's nothing to be concerned about.

Coach Wade Phillips said after he stepped off the practice field that it might actually be good for the team to get the younger players more reps:

"Him missing some time is not a big deal," Phillips said, "especially a veteran player that knows how to play and do the things and has worked as hard as he had during the offseason. We wouldn't have given him as many reps anyway in the minicamp, because we want to take care of those [veteran] guys and make sure they're ready."

Things sure have changed for Owens in a few years; when he was in Philadelphia whether or not Owens would report to minicamp was the biggest story in football. Phillips is probably right that Owens' absence doesn't make much of a difference.

Adam Jones: Don't Call Me Pacman

Dallas Cowboys cornerback Adam Pacman Jones doesn't want to be known as Pacman anymore. Adam Schefter of NFL Network is reporting that Jones will publicly request this week that he just be known as Adam Jones.

Presumably, this is a symbolic gesture on his part to distance himself from his troubled past, as the word "Pacman" has become synonymous with off-field trouble in the NFL. Over the last year, high-profile NFL people like Commissioner Roger Goodell, Titans coach Jeff Fisher and Cowboys owner Jerry Jones have taken to referring to him as "Adam," not "Pacman."

It will be hard for people to get used to losing the moniker. His NFL.com player page just calls him Pacman, not Adam, and the back of his jersey used to say "P. Jones." (That issue is now moot, as the NFL has stopped putting first initials on jerseys.) But if he wants to be called Adam, I'll call him Adam.

Happy Father's Day, DeMarcus Ware

Dallas Cowboys linebacker DeMarcus Ware has been compared to Lawrence Taylor on the field: He's a fast, ferocious player who plays with a mean streak.

But Greg Bishop of the New York Times has a great piece that shows the other side of Ware today, on the first Father's Day since Ware and his wife adopted a baby. Ware's wife, Taniqua, had previously had two miscarriages, and they had a son who was stillborn in 2006.

Late last year the Wares started looking into adoption, and in February their baby was born. Bishop writes:

At the hospital, Ware said, he told Taniqua, "You a momma now." She replied, "And you a daddy."

They named her after Bob Marley, Ware's favorite reggae singer. Marley, with an infectious smile, is drawn to lenses, and the Wares document her so often that they run low on memory in their camera and camcorder. She has many nicknames, including Stinker and Daddy's Little Princess.

Ware "lights up Marley's day," Christy Shepard, a family friend, said, adding: "She smiles when she sees him across the room. When he comes in, it's like nobody else exists."

The feeling appears to be mutual.

"That dude is just one proud papa," Norwood said. "He's always, always talking about his daughter."

Ware and his wife call Marley "our little angel."

Worker Killed at New Cowboys Stadium Just Days After Three Others Injured

A gazillion dollars may be able to buy you an awesome new stadium, but it won't be able to buy you good karma.

A worker on the new Dallas Cowboys Stadium was killed while doing some electrical work.

An electrician working at the new Dallas Cowboys stadium died Saturday when he touched a high-voltage line, the second serious accident at the construction site in less than a week.

The man was standing on a ladder and performing an electrical test when he touched the power line, said Neal Strasser, a battalion chief with the Arlington Fire Department.

The man became wedged between the ladder and the stadium wall. A co-worker carried him to the ground and tried to revive him, Strasser said.

This comes just two days after three other workers were hurt in a crane accident at the site. Two have been treated and released from the hospital, while the third remains in critcal condition. OSHA officials were on-site for an investigation of the crane accident when the electrician was killed.

Last year, a man was hit in the back by a crane hook at the construction site. In January, another worker fell down a hole ... twenty feet. Both were treated, released and are back working on the stadium.

Still, this has become a house of horrors for what is supposed to be one of the NFL's crown jewels.

Dallas Cowboys' New Stadium Will Have World's Two Largest High Definition TVs

If Cowboys owner Jerry Jones was willing to spend $400 million just to impress John Madden, you'd better believe that he's going to make sure his shiny new stadium is going to have some impressive accessories. Like, say, the world's two biggest high-definition television screens.

The new stadium, which the Cowboys will play in beginning in 2009, is slated to have more than 3,000 video monitors. The two biggest of those, the Dallas Morning News reports, will be 160 feet by 70 feet, which makes them the two biggest HD screens in the world.

Those screens will show the game as it's going on -- and no doubt a lot of people in the stadium will watch the players on the enormous screens instead of with their naked eyes -- but also some behind-the-scenes action. Jones says he'd like to show, for instance, injured players heading into the locker rooms to get X-rays.

Says the director of the stadium's construction project, "We think it will be a lot of years until any other new stadium tops us."

Dallas Police Department to Begin Testing Officers for Illegal Anabolic Steroids

The Dallas Police Department has announced that it will add illegal anabolic steroids to the list of banned substances that officers are tested for, beginning on July 1. Acting Assistant Chief Floyd Simpson explains:

"It maintains the integrity of what we do and promotes community confidence," Chief Simpson said. "Nobody knows when they are going to be called for a test."

Dallas joins several big cities that now test their police officers, including Baltimore, Houston and Phoenix, where several cops were caught up in a federal steroid probe last year.

Terrell Owens Has Never Failed a Drug Test, but NFL May Start Testing Him More

Chris Mortensen of ESPN is reporting that Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Terrell Owens could be subjected to more stringent drug testing because he has missed phone calls to schedule drug tests.

According to Mortensen, Owens has never failed a test. But the NFL's system of testing has strict rules, including saying that all players must make themselves available for random drug tests at all times. In Owens' case, there have been times when the league's drug testers have called him to arrange a test later in the day, and Owens hasn't answered the call or called them back. That's enough, under NFL rules, to subject a player to a more rigorous testing schedule.

Owens met with NFL officials on June 3 to discuss the matter, and he was told that he can now be randomly tested for performance-enhancing drugs up to 24 times a year for the rest of his career.

The NFL, the Cowboys and Owens' agents all declined to comment for Mortensen's story.

Death of David Jacobs, Steroids Dealer Who Gave Drugs to NFL Players, Ruled Suicide

A day after local police said convicted steroids dealer David Jacobs had been murdered in his home, the medical examiner has now said Jacobs actually committed suicide.

Jacobs and his ex-girlfriend, a bodybuilder named Amanda Jo Earhart-Savell were found dead of gunshot wounds on Thursday in Jacobs' home in Plano, Texas. Police said both were murdered, but the medical examiner said today that Jacobs died of two self-inflicted gunshot wounds, one to the abdomen and one to the head.

Authorities have not made a ruling on the cause of Earhart-Savell's death.

Multiple media outlets have reported that Jacobs met with NFL officials and gave them the names of players he said bought steroids from him. Murdered Steroids Dealer Worried Someone Would 'Put a Bullet in the Back of My Head'

David Jacobs, the convicted steroids dealer who was found shot to death in his home Thursday, had predicted he might be murdered.

ESPN the Magazine writer Shaun Assael interviewed Jacobs after he had implicated other steroid users to federal investigators and to the NFL, and Assael reports this:

When explaining why he did not want to go public, Jacobs said: "The kinds of people I know about could put a bullet in the back of my head."

Jacobs' father discussed his son's death with Michael S. Schmidt of the New York Times.

The elder Jacobs told Schmidt:

"I got a call from an anonymous caller who said, 'Call the Plano police department,' " he said. "I just got off the phone with the police about 30 seconds ago, and they told me about David, but said they didn't know how it happened."

He added: "I spoke with David through a text message about three or four days ago, and he said he was fine. He has been trying to rebuild his life. He got crossed with some bad things and made some bad choices. At this point, I am just beside myself."

Police have not released any information about suspects in Jacobs' death.

Convicted Steroids Dealer David Jacobs Found Murdered in His Home

David Jacobs, a convicted steroids dealer who recently told NFL officials that he gave steroids to players, was found dead in his home today.

Jacobs, who had implicated NFL player Matt Lehr (pictured) as one of the people he gave steroids, was found dead along with a woman identified as his ex-girlfriend, Amanda Jo Earhart-Savell. A gun was also found at the home. Earhart-Savell's parents found the bodies.

A local TV news station reports that police said the deaths were considered a double homicide. The station also reports that Earhart-Savell's MySpace Profile lists her as an International Federation of Body Building and Fitness professional and a fitness model.

Jacobs was sentenced to three years' probation last month for his role in a steroid-distribution ring. He had been cooperating with law enforcement.

Cowboys, Terrell Owens Agree to 3-Year Contract Extension

Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Terrell Owens won't be doing sit-ups in his driveway any time soon.

Owens and the Cowboys have agreed to a three-year contract extension through the 2011 season, ESPN is reporting. Although no details have been released, the deal is likely to keep the 34-year-old Owens in Dallas for the rest of his career.

That Owens could reach a contract extension with the Cowboys quietly marks a sharp contrast with the last time he was looking for a new deal, when he made life a living hell for the Eagles' front office. Maybe he's grown up, or maybe Cowboys owner Jerry Jones is just willing to pay him more. Either way, Owens and the Cowboys are happy together, and will stay together for four more seasons.
