Ben Roethlisberger told police there was no sexual intercourse with the woman who is accusing the Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback of assault, a Pittsburgh television station reported on its Web site Thursday night. Citing unnamed sources, KDKA-TV reported Roethlisberger conceded to Milledgeville, Ga., police the night of the incident that he had contact with the 20-year-old college student, but said a sexual act was not consummated inside the dance club. Roethlisberger said the woman injured her head after she slipped in the bathroom.
The accuser immediately reported the incident to police and was treated at an area hospital. TMZ.com reported Thursday that police have taken possession of the security tapes from the Capital City Night Club.
"We intend to finish this case in a way that neither his liberty nor his future is damaged," Roethlisberger's attorney Ed Garland told KDKA-TV.
The Atlanta law firm hired by the family of the accuser has asked for for discretion as the case progresses.
"Their daughter has done the right thing and reported this matter to the police," lawyer Lee Parks said in a statement. "She has been, and will be, available to the authorities to assist them in the criminal investigation. While the matter is under investigation, we ask you to respect her privacy, keep her name out of the press and allow the family space and time to heal."

I am not accusing him but I am VERY SURPRISED that there are no comments from Pittsburg fans coming to rescue his character like last year's ordeal.
Could it be that the past season's record has a lot to do with it vs the Superbowl year. Could this be a wake up call to his behavior?
Your point is well taken. Those who hastily condemned last year's accuser should be having second thoughts.
I feel last year folks were giving the benifit of the doubt since it was his first incident..... but now where there is smoke there is likely fire.
Why do they respect her privacy and not his? Hypocrisy or stupidity? Both?
AS A STILLER FAN IAM FED UP WITH BEN. YOUR A MAN NOT IN COLLEGE ANY MORE.IF YOU CANT CONTROL YOUR LIFE GET PEOPLE WHO WILL LOOK OUT FOR YOU AND NOT LET THINGS LIKE THIS GET OUT OF CONTROL.I DONT KNOW IF HE DID IT OR NOT BUT ITS GETTING OLD. YOU PREACH THAT YOU ARE A CHIRSTAN THEN WHY ARE THERE 2 CASES THAT YOU WERE INVOLVED IN . THE WORD IS OUT THAT YOU DONT REALLY LIKE PITTSBURGH OR ITS FANS THAT MUCH. I SAY IF YOU DONT WANT TO BE HERE IM SURE THE STEELERS CAN WORK SOMETHING OUT WITH OAKLAND.
unlike most here that love to jump to conclusions I need to wait to see what happened before I comment on anything,so here are the facts as we know them.. Ben went to a nightclub in a vip area with his security team made up of 3 off duty Pittsburgh police officers 2 Officers from West Virginia and 1 Pennsylvania State Trooper something that ESPN, Terance Moore and Jay Mariotti always seem to leave out of their stories... wonder why that is?? All of his security force have reportedly backed the story of Ben and the underage 20 yr old girl has not had one person backing her story up, so who do you think a judge is going to believe . A girl that entered a bar with a fake ID or 6 respected Law Enforcement Professionals.. However if Ben is found culpable in this incident I would support the Steelers in cutting him . Not because he Didnt win a superbowl but because he is not living up to what being a Steeler is all about.
I dont care for this guy much but he seems like a target to me . I hope the truth comes out and not some fish story . I hate this stuff . It never ends
There are usually 3 sides to every story. In this case its His, Hers and the TRUTH..Let her make her claim, and now let the Law prove it, if they can...time will tell...Other then that, the Steelers STILL SUCK..
Being a lifelong Steeler fan whether they win the Super Bowl or not, I can say that I am concerned. The integrity of the team is based on the integrity of the ownership and each individual player and coach. This latest accusation must raise some very serious suspicion as to the integrity of Rothlisberger. I would like to believe it isn't so, but the truth will be revealed. If he is guilty he will need to face the dire consequences.
You practically need written consent to sleep with these bimbos today. They dress with their cooches and boobs hanging out, grind on guys all night and then expected to be treated like a lady. Not to mention letting guys do shots of their bodies and drinking till they fall down. This skank hoe was underage, followed him around town and saw a big payday.
The other case is utter bullshite. She waited two years bragged about the sex had an imaginary lover and only filed a civil suit.
I think that Steelers fans(me included)believe that he is innocent of both charges, but guilty of stupidity. Stay out of the damn night clubs, marry a supermodel or playmate, and win a few more Super Bowls!
Yet another bad news story for the NFL. Sadly, the NFL has become almost as thug-infested as the NBA. Mr. Goodell needs to get rid of ALL the drug usin', wife/girlfriend beatin', illegitimate children fatherin', gun totin' "professionals" once and for all!
I don't know the extent of what happened and will reserve final judgement until all the facts are out because that is what we are supposed to do.
That said, Ben's statement to the police is a fact precisely because it is his official statement of what happened. That statement admits (if this article is correct) being in the bathroom with a 20 year old and, presuming it is a female, someone was in the wrong restroom. It also says that at some point she fell and hit her head and that no sexual act was consummated. Is it reading too much into the statement to believe that a sexual act was contemplated?
If the contact Ben admits to had ANYTHING to do with the girl falling, then he is technically in some trouble because that can be construed as assault.
Whether he was just after some strange or whether he pushed it too far (for whatever reason), it is pretty clear that it is time Ben grew up.
he's accused of assault. why is it news that he did not have intercourse with her? is that supposed to make us all say, "whew, what a relief - that Ben really is a good guy!"?!?
First of all Pittsburgh has an "h" at the end of it. And we as fans are not sitting on our hands and not talking. Check out many Steeler posts and you will see that many of us are questioning his decisions that he is making and that if he is guilty, then throw the book at him.
I hate it when they're so specific: I didn't have intercourse... Well, what did you have? It seems like this type of denial only means they did something else which wasn't exactly kosher.
PLEASE..... Them man is 28 years old. What men in their twenties are not prowling around. Call it what you want but it is the call of the wild. I know.... the extreme religious nuts are not prowling (for women). The man is only trying to get a little mud for his turtle. Regardless of he having money or not.. he is entitled as most of us man were and are... Get over it.....
Their record last year has nothing to do with it. Last years case is obviously bogus and not too many Steelers fans defended him until the facts came out and it was pretty easy to see that there was no crime committed. This year regardless of his guilt or innocence of the accusation his intelligence is clearly not what it needs to be and we all know he is in serious need of an attitude adjustment. Only the blindest of homers will come out right now and defend his character, as it is obviously in serious question now.
@psu74dl Were all of these law enforcement officials in the restroom with Ben at the time of the alledged assault? That was a pretty crowded restroom.
Everybody is slamming this girl for being underage in a bar or getting drunk and coming onto him. First, you don't have to be 21 to get into a bar in most areas, certainly not in a college town. They will let you in as long as you are 18, but you obviously cannot drink. In all the reports I have read, not one has accused her of being intoxicated. Considering Ben's lawyer and the police have both released statements, I'd assume if she was, or if there was even a thought that she might be, I would have heard about it. A lot of you are quick to side with a 28 year old who admits to sexual contact with a 20 year old in a woman's bathroom at 2:30 in the morning. Ben's story is that she slipped and hit her head? If she is so intoxicated she cannot stand then Ben shouldn't have had sexual contact with her. If she is not intoxicated I find it hard to believe that she slipped and hit her head. Ben's story is full of holes. He also denied a request for a DNA sample, which they will clearly now need a warrant to obtain. That doesn't seem like the move an innocent guy would make. Just my opinion though.
