Cleveland Browns fans are extremely passionate, loyal and perhaps even a little nuts about their team. And they don't always have a great relationship with their starting quarterbacks. Take, for example, the time they made former No. 1 overall pick Tim Couch cry, or when they cheered Derek Anderson after he suffered a season-ending knee injury.
On Tuesday, Anderson was released by the Browns, ending a four-year run with the team that included a trip to the Pro Bowl in 2007 and a steady decline over the following two years.
Still stinging from hearing fans cheer his injury, the 26-year-old quarterback sounded off about the orange-and-brown faithful.
In an e-mail to Jeff Schudel of The News-Herald, Anderson said the following:
"The fans are ruthless and don't deserve a winner ... I will never forget getting cheered when I was injured. I know at times I wasn't great. I hope and pray I'm playing when my team comes to town and (we) roll them."
Share Ouch. The next step for Anderson, of course, is finding a new team that will give him an opportunity to go into Cleveland and "roll" the Browns. Might be easier said than done, as Anderson has struggled mightily over the last two seasons, completing less than 50 percent of his passes and posting a passer rating under 60.
He played eight games in 2009 and recorded the lowest rating in the NFL, throwing only three touchdowns to 10 interceptions.
ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that the Arizona Cardinals will be "major players" for Anderson and could eventually sign him.
In case you're wondering, the Cardinals aren't scheduled to play the Browns until 2011.
UPDATE: Anderson has since apologized to Browns fans.

hahaha....What a panty-waist loser. Now that he's been kicked to the curb, he's going to "man up" and denounce the fans for being too critical over his performance.
Well said Mr. Anderson! While not necessarily a smart professional maneuver, his words speak true. Any fan base that would hope for an injury to another person, and cheer for a potentially career-threatening injury, never again deserves to see the light of the playoffs. If one compares the loyalty of a fan base to its teams overall record, it is easy to find a correlation. Look at the Eagles, look at the Browns - take note: players will not be loyal to a team that is not loyal to them.
WHA WHA BYE CRY BABY!!!!!
we arent cheering cause he is hurt we are cheering cause we know we wont have to watch his terrible play anymore! If and when he lands with another team I promise you he wont be any better there unless they have 8 foot recievers who run nothing but go routes so he doesnt bomb the damn ball over thier heads. Also they better have a short yardage qb because he has abosolutely no touch on the ball. I simply short english GOODBYE LOSER ! I hope the steelers pick you up so i can enjoy watching you sit on thier bench or if your lucky get pummled two times a year.
Cleveland sucks the Browns suck so who cares.
No wonder they cheered his injury. Too bad he didn't injure his mouth.
Of course, he's so bad, he tried to send his response to the Cleveland Plain Dealer and it ended up at The News-Herald. He can't even throw to the right paper...
I always believed in you DA. What the Browns needed were receivers that could catch the ball. You have the best arm in football. I hope only the best for you.
Offensive co-ordinator,defensive co-ordinator,coach every three years, and these morons blame the players. They even thought bernie was a quarterback. There is absolutely something in the water.I'm not sure, after spending years in the old and new stadium, that anyone of those people know anything about football.Never again.
I saw the game Anderson got injured and some of the fans cheered. Never in my 50 plus years of watching sports have I seen such total disrepect of a sport and its players as when the so called fans cheered. It not only was emabarassing to see and hear such a display, but it showed absolutely "No Class" to a player who was hurt playing for their own team. The idiots who cheered haven't a clue of what sports (all sports) are about!!
well, well, well, if u knew anything about football, you'd be glad to see the bummmmmmmmmmmmm go, the guy could'nt hit the brawed side of a barn, the big baby, if he can't take the heat, he diffenently needs to get off the field, now the next best thing that can happen in Cleveland is get rid of the loser coach, can't understand why we hired a loser to begin with. Good luck to Brady, and lets take some pressure off that position and give him the green light so he can get settled in and do his job and not look over his shoulder all the time. "GO DAWGS".
So Long Derek, meaning it took so long to get rid of you and all your interceptions, TAKE THEM AND YOUR MILLIONS TO SOMEONE ELSE!!!
I dont think the Arena league will be playing the Browns ass wipe!
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOKKKKKKKKKKKKK, finally got rid of one loser, now all we have to do is fire the head coach, don't understand why we hired the loser anyway. "GOOOOOOOOO DAWGS".
Derek needs to grow up and should know that drunk fans will booo even if we win!! That's very upsetting that he puts all the great Browns fans in that catagory!! He should never threaten to beat us when and if he plays against us!!Shaun Rogers will be heathly by then and will "roll" him right into the ground!!!Shame on you Derek!!!
lol and the brownies think senneca wallace is the answer hahahahahaha cleveland sucks
And this is why the state of Ohio hasnt won a professional title in pretty much any major sport since 1832.
Claytor....you are a moron. The Browns owned football from the time they came into the league for the next 20 years. Ever hear of Jim Brown, Marion Motley, Lou the toe, Paul Warfield..........the list goes on. Prior to this shitty expansion garbage they were the winningest football team in history. Before the super bowl, when the championship games were just called championships, the Browns had everyone topped. Know your history and the game before you open your hole next time, or go read up on the Brown's history. You have plenty to learn son.
For all you Browns stain fans: DA hates you guys cuz you cheered when he got hurt. What player wouldn't hate ya?....who would want to go to Cleveland and play? It's a crap town....hence the name Browns. They have never won nothing. Modell was smart to leave that pathetic place and you hated him for it. I don't see a good future for that franchise. Maybe Lerner will grow a brain and move them to L.A. so he can make money. Browns fans are cheap and classless.
All we true football fans that KNOW what we are talking about Has come about again!!!!!!!!!!! Derek Anderson is a good QB, you asswipes in Cleveland will find that out very soon!!!!! Boy Brady is not your answer, you will be booing him out of town soon also!!! You call yourself fans? Even visiting fans don't boo a player in ANY sport when they get hurt!!!!!!!!! What ass***** you clown fans are!!!!! And you are always blaming the coaches? You blew your chance to make it anywhere when you got rid of Marty!!!!!!! Can't wait to hear your next assinine excuses. ALWAYS NEXT YEAR like you mistakes on the lake say every year!!!!! Art did know what he was doing when he moved after all ha ha ha ! Only silver tropghy you fans will ever see is on TV or in Canton !!!!! DID I SAY LOSER'S HA HA!! wHAT ASS WIPES YOU ALL ARE START TO JUNP IN THE LAKE !!!!!!
The day Art Modell fired Paul Brown, the Browns were sent to a pro football hell where they would have nothing but mediocre coaches, non-skilled players and fans that are an embarassment to the NFL. Anyone who boos an injured player deserves to be in Art Modell's hell forever!!!
