Lebeau is the only one I disagree with. A lot of his success is from having great players, rather than scheme. His last 2 super bowls his defenses have been destroyed and unprepared. Without help from the refs he may have lost his job after Superbowl XL or even XLIII.
Read the article: LeBeau is being enshrined "as his tenure as a player". What do the refs have to do with that?
You must be a beginner. Dick LeBeau is a Hall of Famer just based on his super career with the Detroit Lions. As a coach, I don't think you'd find a player that doesn't love and respect him as a man. His defensive strategies were leaders in innovations in the NFL.
HEY MAYOR THE ARTICALE SAY HE IS IN FOR HIS TENURE AS A PLAYER IF YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BE A BIGINNER TO SEE WHAT THE ARTICLE SAID
i didnt see his defenses get destroyed, the refs won them XL, but you talk like the cardinals rammed the ball down their throat all night when the steelers had them pretty well in check until late in the game, then they got lucky...again, with a freakin miracle throw and catch
Who the hell is Ricky Jackson??????????
in as a player not a coach...steelers earned all SIX SBs...hating is a sign of envy..GO STEELERS....# 7 coming next year
Reed got robbed look at his stats to bad he played in buffao if he would of played in dallas he would be in the hall rice is the greatest
I'm fine with the five modern era folks who were enshrined. But I don't think either Dick LeBeau or Floyd Little belong in. LeBeau's achievements as a player definitely fall short -- note that he was never named first team all pro by any organization and he only made 3 pro bowls in his long career. And a lot of INTs in his case can and likely does mean that QBs preferred to throw against him rather than Dick Lane or Lem Barney. He's still active as a coach, so his body of work here is ineligible for consideration. And if he belongs in for inventing the zone blitz, he should have been elected as a contributor, not a player.
Passing on Shannon Sharpe?! Wow! Emmitt and Jerry were no-brainers but Rickey Jackson was a bit of a surprise. Probably too many deserving candidates from the recent era.
Very true. The NFL needs to get rid of the rule that only seven can get in per year.
Ricky Jackson? I think they felt obligated since the Saints were in the "BIG GAME"(HA NFL!) But by snubbing Cris Carter for 3-4 years and now Tim Brown, the comittee is really looking foolish. Those two are in the top 5 of just about every recieving catagory (behind Rice of course). Maybe they hope that by shunning them for 5 - 10 more years, they will fall down the charts. Then maybe we can get "more popular" guys like Marvin "ITS NOT MY GUN" Harrison and Terelle "NOBODY MATTERS BUT ME" Owens! Come HOF, dont turn into the laughing stock of hall of fames. That title currently belongs to baseball...1-2 people a year!?
the reason baseballs sucks is because the voting is done by mostly media who seem like they have never watch baseball in their life. if they voted correctly we could have more then 7 guys go in per year.
you have to remember its the pro football hall of fame, not NFL
The fact that Shannon Sharpe did not get in last year or this year is absurd. He was hands down the best tight end ever to play the game. I do not understand how his achievements can be overlooked. If you want stats and titles he had it all.
Sharp should go in to the Hall just for that big knot he has in his tie . I dont think I have ever seen a knot that big
I think that their afraid to have Shannon Sharpe inducted because he would have to give a speech. He should learn to utter the english language without sounding like he has a mouthfull of something.
Best tightend ever? Ozzie Newsome, Kellen Winslow, Mark Bavaro...please.
While I think Shannon Sharpe definitely belongs in the HoF, it's not at all unusual he's waiting a bit. Not TE has ever been elected before their third eligible year (Kellen Winslow), and most have waited a lot longer. And I'd like to see the rational that Sharpe was the greatest TE ever, especially given that he couldn't block well and in fact thought it was beneath him to do so.
This was a tough class to say the least but Rickey Jackson over Richard Dent? Come on!
