All of the talk linking Mike Holmgren to a front office position with the Browns has made its way to the team's locker room. While the players were getting dressed for practice on Thursday, the Associated Press reports that players were asking reporters if the team had hired a "czar" to run the football operations yet. They haven't, and a team spokesman said that there haven't been any discussions of money yet. They've also got to interview a minority candidate to comply with the NFL's Rooney Rule, but they plan to speak with the former Packers and Seahawks coach again in the coming days. All of that means that there may be more "We want Holmgren!" chants coming from the likes of defensive end Corey Williams. A little butt-kissing is a good idea. Neither Williams nor the rest of his teammates are assured of anything should Holmgren take over the franchise. Still, it isn't surprising to hear that he's a fervent supporter of the moustachioed mastermind.
He's spent most of the season in Eric Mangini's doghouse before getting let off his leash last Thursday against the Steelers. Williams responded with two sacks in the Browns victory, the kind of performance that makes you wonder why Mangini spent so much time playing other guys in front of the well-paid Williams.
It's widely believed that Mangini would be swiftly turfed with Holmgren on the job, something that would seem to improve Williams's chances of making it back for another season.

I think Mikw Holmgren would be a good addition to the Browns front office then go get john gruden as are coach and make the Browns a contender again Ken
A "Czar" huh, he won a Super Bowl and needed a HOF QB to do it. He never really won a thing as a GM. Hey Cleveland, it takes PLAYERS to win. Those guys cheering might look in the mirror and then realize why they stink. They got excited for Romeo, and the 5 guys before him and on and on. LEARN how to DRAFT better, sign GOOD free agents and get a WINNING coach and just maybe you can be respectable again. There are very good pieces in Cleveland, not a one of them are on the same page.
THIS IS THE BEST CHOICE IN THIS POSITION SINCE 1999.HE HAS COACHED AND HAD UPPER LEVEL WORK.HE ALSO IS AWARE OF NEEDS FOR COLD WEATHER TEAMS.GREAT CHOICE HOPE THEY KEEP MANGINI TOO.
