Troy Polamalu Exits With Knee Injury

Troy Polamalu hurtJust when Pittsburgh thought Troy Polamalu was getting back to full health, the Steelers may have lost their superstar safety again. Polamalu limped to the locker room during Sunday's game between Pittsburgh and Cincinnati, and immediate reports were that he had reinjured his left knee. He did not return to the game, which Cincinnati won 18-12.

Steelers coach Mike Tomlin said after the game that Polamalu would undergo an MRI.

Polamalu missed four games earlier this season -- including a Week 2 Steelers' loss to Cincinnati -- after spraining his left MCL in Pittsburgh's Week 1 win over Tennessee.

He returned in Week 6 against Cleveland -- he intercepted a pass in that game, then nabbed another one last Monday night against Denver.

Pittsburgh was 4-0 with Polamalu in the lineup this season and 2-2 without him, prior to Sunday's loss.

Tyrone Carter jumped into Polamalu's spot in the secondary after the injury. Carter had two interceptions, one which he returned for a touchdown, as a replacement for Ryan Clark during the Steelers past the Broncos in Week 9.
