It's that time of year again. Nope, not the changing of the leaves or the holiday season, it's that time of year when a Cowboys wide receiver isn't happy with quarterback Tony Romo, and allows himself the privilege of complaining to the media about it instead of, you know, talking to TONY ROMO!Roy Williams, who was supposed to replace previously unhappy Terrell Owens as the top wideout in Dallas, has continued his career of underachieving, this year to the tune of 41.5 yards per game and just two touchdowns. While Roy has struggled, Miles Austin, an undrafted receiver out of Monmouth has done incredible stuff, including breaking the record in Dallas for yards receiving in a game (250 in week five) and scoring six times, five of which have come in the last three games.
None of those numbers matter, however, because Roy is the best in Dallas and Roy should get more looks. According to Roy.
After putting in a lot of extra offseason work with Romo, Williams is stunned they haven't made more progress. While ESPN's Tim MacMahon makes a great point (Miles has more yards, 482, in his first three career starts than Williams has in the 16 games, 447, since joining Dallas), Williams thinks it's something else. For some reason, when Romo looks to Williams, he makes a bad throw.
"It's just not even close," Williams said. "It's not even funny. Not even close."
"I'm the No. 1 receiver," Williams said. "But things are just going No. 2's way."
"He gets the ball thrown correctly his way," Williams said of Austin. "I'm stretching and falling and doing everything. Everybody [else] who's been here's balls are there. Our footballs [from Romo to Williams] are everywhere right now."You have to be fairly dense to think this is anything more than bad luck for Williams, or just bad routes. Romo has split seconds to think of where to place the ball, so unless Williams is running bad routes, or the two just aren't on the same page, it is passes being tossed similar to how they are thrown when they go to Austin (or Jason Witten, or Patrick Crayton) and it is up to Williams to make a play on the ball.
So far, Austin has been incredible and the Cowboys are doing well because of it. I guess the 'ol saying is true -- there's no I in team, but there sure as hell is one in Roy Williams.

I'm a Dallas fan and in all honesty I've stuck up for Roy for the most part but he just needs to shut up and worry about running routes and other stuff. Just because Jerry was dumb enough to give up a 1,3, and a 6 doesn't meant you are automatic #1 wideout. Just learn your role in the offense and if you have patience you'll get your catches at some point.
C'MON Roy how passes have you had in your hands and DROPPED!
I hope Roy can take a page from Alex Rodriguez' book and use all of this criticism as motivation. Adversity can meld a group of individuals into a team...the Yankees are a good example.
Come on Cowboys...no more talk of the Saints becoming America's Team!
LOL from a Detroit Lions fan, That trade Was freaking awesome!
Roy learn to run a route and then cath the ball!!! His route running ability is poor by NFL standards and he looks like he lost on the field and Go get the ball when it is thrown to you remember Lynn Swan Stop crying and play ball and learn your craft it's been to long Play Ball my friend!

Sorry Roy but you had your chance. Miles is the man now. He's proving himself every week and Romo trust him. Maybe if you catch a ball for a change and not drop any maybe he will trust you again.
How long has Miles, Crayton and even Sam Hurd been on the same team as Tony? Maybe you who are saying Roy is not worth having should stop and think about 3 things. Maybe Tony is thinking that Roy is Terrell Owens because they are similar in height and Tony does not realize that Roy is not as fast so he overthrowns Roy. Maybe Roy breaks into his routes faster than Terrell and that's why Tony throws behind Roy during his breaks. Have you people not notice Tony is ALSO having troubles connecting with OUR SECOND tight end Marty B? Once Tony's timing with Roy and Marty improves....watch out! Frankly, I am more worried that we our not being able to take advantage of our 2 tightend mismatches because Tony is not connecting with Marty B.
