My high school coach used to say, "no back is worth two fumbles," meaning if a running back lost two fumbles in one game, he should be immediately removed. Sunday in Buffalo, Houston's Steve Slaton didn't even get that chance. After just one carry and one catch, Slaton lost a fumble and was benched for the rest of the game. It was the seventh fumble -- losing five of them -- on the season for the diminutive back from West Virginia. Even worse news for Slaton, and his fantasy football owners, was what Ryan Moats did in his stead. Moats racked up 126 yards on 23 carries and scored three touchdowns in the Texans' 31-10 victory over the Bills.
Chris Brown also saw action out of the backfield, garnering 22 yards on seven carries, giving the Texans 186 yards rushing and 4.7 yards per carry. They entered the game averaging just 79 yards per game and 3.0 yards per carry on the ground. With all this in mind, it's definitely plausible that there might be some sort of shakeup in the Texans' backfield.
With the win, the Texans are now 5-3 and a legitimate threat in the AFC for the first time in franchise history. They will test their mettle next week when they visit the undefeated Indianapolis Colts.

Seven fumbles in as many games????
The guy should have been benched or released after the second game.
He's being paid big bucks to carry the football, not deliver it to the other team. Is he so stupid that he thinks he works for UPS?

... who was replaced by a black player ryan moats, who this past spring was sadly detained beyond a reasonable amount of time by an arrogant white cop who felt he could because he thought his skin color made him superior to ryan and ryan's black skin color made him a criminal who could be disbelieved and someone to be treated like a piece of trash, and despite the pleadings of ryan, his wife, and hospital personnel to let ryan enter the hospital where his mother in law lay dying, the white cop did not, and ryan was unable to see her before she passed. and that arrogant white cop thought he should get a pass!! thank goodness the city of houston and its citizens thought differently.

Adrian Peterson fumbled the football nine times in 2008. Should he have been benched, or is he a running back who is "worth two fumbles?"

He should be benched for now. But he has talent and should be givin another chance. The backup got a not so great defense to go up against.

wow you guys are dumba$$es and clearly know nothing about football hes black so he thinks he gets a pass? he should have been released week 2? haha wow guys I think you should just concentrate on pee wee football and leave the NFL talk to the more educated..many running backs have had issues holding onto the ball and many have been successful in fixing this problem with the right coaching and technique..its his 2nd year and he will learn the hard hitting of the nfl..trust me a 4th string RB has more talent than sam and dtruck put together x100

It really is simple,,Ralph Wilson (Buffalo owner) IS THE MONEY GRABBER HERE, he has been robbing the fans since the begginning and everyone here in the buffalo area knows it. Any good or even fair high school team could beat them. They have always been a one man one hero team example,,Kelly, he screwed as many locals as Wilson by screwing investors in his club that went babkrupt, then running out on them but makes national news by his charity that was only a self serving investment of time only .A very simple way to put it is they totally suck and would be outta here if the league would have fell for Wilsons latest money grab of selling them to Toronto Canada but they wouldnt let him so another perfect example of Wilsons loyalty to his fans tax payers paid the majority for the stadium that was supposed to be domed however they forgot that part and the money still has never been fully explained!!!! HE AND THE BUFFALO BILLS TRULY SUCK!!!

Didn't TIKI BARBER have fumble-itis for a couple of years? then changed the way he carried the ball and had a couple of great years. SO should I drop Slaton from my fantasy team or have patience?

You drop him because he'll be out of the league by next year and he won't play anymore this year. He's cost them at least two games already by late fumbles, inside the red zone. And he cost me a $71,000 10 team parlay win one week back at West Virginia, with a 4th quarter "meaningless" fumble when they were up 23... leading to a a "meaningless touchdown" late by the opponent. WV won by 16, I had laid 17 points in the parlay. and wound up winning the other nine games vs the spread.

I feel for you. Ten team parlays are very difficult to hit. I have played about 50 six team parlays over the last three years and have only hit one of them. The payoff was 50 to 1. I only had 20 dollars on it. I used the 1000 to pay off my mortgage payment for the month.

Which two games has Slaton cost Houston this season? The Texans have lost 3 games this year. The Jets beat them by double digits, Chris Brown fumbled the ball in the 4th vs the Jags, and Schaub threw an INT in the 4th v the Cards. Sounds to me like you are blaming Slaton because you made a bad bet.
