At 0-6, there are clearly no sure-thing wins for the Titans. But if you were going to pick a point in the schedule where new starter Vince Young could succeed, you could do a whole lot worse than this week: he gets to face the Jaguars, 49ers and Bills after a bye week.None of those are sure-fire wins, but all three are winnable games (especially since the Jaguars and Bills passing games should help give the beleaguered Titans secondary a bit of a break). Win two of those games and Young all of a sudden looks like a spark, no matter what his passing stats look like.
What no one is discussing yet is what exactly will determine if Young's second chance as a starter is a success. It's almost impossible to expect Young to pile up 300-yard passing games, but if he can move the chains, show improved passing accuracy and avoid interceptions, maybe Tennessee can avoid going into next season looking for a young quarterback again.
If it happens, it means that Young learned a lot from sitting on the bench for the past season, but hey, at this point with the playoffs out of reach it's worth finding out what Young can do.

Dude, are you kidding me? You've already given the Titans a win over the Jaguars earlier in the year, and you're doing it again? Don't you remember the score to that game? The Jaguars amassed a 27-3 lead going into the half, as David Garrard threw for 330+ yards. Maurice Jones-Drew had like four carries because Jacksonville DESTROYED the Titans through the air!!! Furthermore, the Jags are 14th in the league in passing. Also, I don't understand how Vince Young is gonna do any better than Kerry Collins when Vince Young's highest passer rating against the Jaguars was 70.1. His other passer ratings against the Jaguars? 30.2, 47.9, 64.8 and 45.6. I'm not saying Jacksonville has this game in the bag, I'm just saying Tennessee is the worst team in the league. Seriously; did anyone watch that Pats-Titans game?

I think Young is owed something like $18 million against the cap in 2010, which means the Titans either have to pay him, cut him or trade him after the season.
If Young performs well for the remainder of '09, Tennessee can get a nice draft pick. If he flounders, they won't pay him that BIG money and they won't be able to trade him, so they'll have to cut him.
So deciding to start him now is a HUGE gamble for the Titans. If they retain Young for 2010, they will have to renegotiate a new, long-term BIG $$$ deal with him and that is risky because it will be based on a 10-game '09 season.
Tennesssee should have moved him prior to the '09 mid-season trading deadline when they were 0-5 and had teams like Washington. St. Louis and maybe Oakland looking for new QBs. Too late now.
I can't see Tennessee winning at all when this flushes out.
