Jeff Fisher's Tennessee Titans are 0-6. This week the Titans are on a bye, and Fisher appeared at a Rocket Town fundraising event alongside former Colts head coach Tony Dungy. In so doing Fisher chose to make light of the Titans failure. How? By taking off his trench coat to reveal that he was wearing a Peyton Manning jersey underneath.
Seriously.
As if that weren't enough, he then said, "I just wanted to feel like a winner today."
Manning, oh by the way, recently swept into Nashville and stomped Fisher's winless Titans 31-9. I'm sure they're laughing in Indianapolis, but is this really the way to endear yourself to the local community? Even if it's at a fundraising appearance? Especially when people are already starting to question whether you deserve another season as head coach?
I think not.
Especially after your team just got beat 59-0, the worst defeat in the NFL in over thirty years.
And I don't think the people of Nashville are overreacting. Would this go over well in any city in America if the team was 0-6? Can you imagine if Jim Zorn showed up at a Washington fundraiser in an Eli Manning jersey?
Would it even go over very well if the Titans were 5-1 and had only lost to Peyton Manning?
Nope.
A joke like this is perhaps the best evidence yet that Jeff Fisher has lost touch with the average fan's frustrations over the collapse of his team. Either that or he truly feels that he's so bulletproof thanks to his relationship with owner Bud Adams that he can get away with anything.
Regardless, fan outrage is building rapidly. And this, wearing the jersey of a rival even if it is for a fundraiser, may have just been the tipping point for the Jeff Fisher era in Nashville. Look out below, Jeff, at least you've got that Manning jersey to cushion your fall.
You were really digging deep to try and make a story out of this. If this doesn't fire up his team they may be dead. Don't ya think he might have done it on purpose?
Now that the commissioner has required that we look into the conduct of the owners (do they support the correct political party - do they represent the political correct view). I think all stories about the NFL should state that the Team Supports the Correct Political views and all owners should be required to sign a manifesto of that view prior to the required party membership.

Mr. Travis- You don't live here in Nashville. You don't have your finger on the pulse of the Nashville community regarding Coach Fisher. You just want to fan a flame to get hits on your website. Coach Fisher is just incredible in the community with fundraising for charities. His motivational words and actions at charity events need not be approved by you. His deeds in caring for those less fortunate will last a lot longer than a losing season, no matter how bad that season is.
If Tennessee is done with him, I'd love to see him on the sidelines in Washington! That guy has made a career of making teams with nothing into teams that are going for the championship. I hate Tennessee, but if you really think that wearing a Manning jersey (who went to Tennessee and is still a God there), then you don't know a damn thing about sports, or how important it is to raise money for those less fortunate. What a terrible story.
This sort of tactic is called 'team motivation'. If it ticks off his team enough to respond, then he has succeeded in resuscitating a team that lost a few pieces in the off season, but not enough to have them start 0-6. The players should be embarrassed and ashamed and pick themselves up and start to kick a$$ rather than lay down and die. Jeff Fischer is a great coach - I'm sure any other team would be more than happy to have him on board if the fans revolt!
While I agree this isn't that big of a deal, it is at least in poor taste. Why would he slap his own team in the face, a team he is responsible for? And since when are coaches not responsible for their teams continuously losing? If a corporation continues to lose money, how long would a CEO keep his job?
In corporate america ceo's who lose money are rewarded in bonuses and stock options and when the corporation goes completely under they are given money from the gov't so they can keep on being successfull failures or are you completely out of touch with what's happening in America today you moron?

Totally agree. My god, some things just are what they are; in this case a little fun. There's no story here. This writer needs to get over it.

Fisher is a great coach. You can't win every year. He may need a change in venue to get it back. That would be Tennesee's loss!

I like Jeff Fisher. I think he has some goodwill in the bank. Shula, Landry & Cowher didn't get fired on bad seasons. Give him a break.
