The Cowboys had no choice but to ask fill-in starter Miles Austin to step up after they were forced to leave injured wide receiver Roy Williams in Dallas. It worked out pretty well.
Austin caught 10 passes for 250 yards -- breaking Hall of Famer Bob Hayes' previous single-game team receiving record of 246 yards -- and scored two extremely clutch touchdowns as Dallas pulled out a 26-20 win at Kansas City.
Austin's first score came just prior to the two-minute warning in the fourth quarter. With the Cowboys and Chiefs knotted at 13 and Dallas facing a third-and-5 at its own 41, Austin caught a Tony Romo bullet in traffic, broke a pair of tackles, and raced to the end zone to give his team a 20-13 lead.
Dallas was unable to hold that edge, though. The Cowboys' defense let Kansas City march down the field and tie the game at 20 in the final 30 seconds.
On the fourth possession of overtime, Austin made sure Dallas got its victory. On second-and-15 from the Cowboys' 40, Austin came back to the ball to catch a Romo pass and freed himself from a defender. He then burst up the sideline, going 60 yards for the game-winning score.
Prior to Sunday's sensational effort, Austin had made just five catches for 81 yards and a score in the first four weeks of the season. Last season, he had 278 yards receiving -- just 28 more than what he put up in Kansas City.

I am a fan of the Cowboys. Coming from a female, in Va. (not a foreskinfan, oops!, I mean Readskin fan) Tony Romo is trash. In order to wear a STAR, you should be a STAR. Get rid of Romo before he cost us a chance at the playoffs, if its not too late now.

This guy got most of the yardage on his OWN..They should be kissing his AZZ..To go into OT against the Chiefs is pathetic...Dallas "D" looks like Father Time...The "O-line" looks even older...NO WAY Cowboys make the playoff's. The should be greatfull they are in the same Div. as the Skins....America's Team? We think NOT...

Rick , Daajas and all you other Romo bashers, get off Tony's back. I see other QBs like the Mannings, Favres and Bradys fumble and throw interceptions. Take Favre for instance, he has thrown something like 340 TDs to 260 INTs ( more than 70% of the passes caught were interceptions).Yet Favre is hailed as an ALL PRO with just one Superbowl win. In his short career Romo has thrown 86 TDS to 41 inceptions ( less than 50% ).
If you Bashers like, we could call on Culpepper, Marcus Russell or David Carr to be our star quarterback. These 3 were hailed as sure fire Pro QBs coming out of college.

I am a die hard cowboy from NYC and I feel that the cowboys should be the best team in the nfc maybe even the best in the nfl, but with romo's screw-ups (and its not a girl jinx its just his horrible skills) they are an average team. I say that the cowboys trade him for a decent q.b. that doesnt fumble or throw interception's every game.

It was not pretty, but it was a W. And that's what counts. If the 'boys needed someone to step up, surely Miles Austen did that today. The D was pretty good, but still not up to snuff. Let's hope the win will carry over to the next game.

I don't understand people who say they are cowboy fans , then trash thier own QB . what are you people ?? under 20 yrs old .. i have been a fan for over 40 yrs ( the good the bad the ugly )if you have had the pleasuere of seeing them win at least one title BE HAPPY and just root them on . they need your support all the time , not just when they are winning .Romo did a good job and kept plugging until he gave them a chance to win. the funble was gaurode and davis's fault . so be a true fan and defend your team from all bashers and tell them to go to some other site . maybe go visit the beagles site and see how they feel about NEVER WINNING a SB ..... GO COWBOYS

hey Timmy, how about your 4 time SuperBowl Viking losers! Eventually, every team will win a Superbowl if they play long enough. Some Losers will finally become winners, while some winners drop back. It's called Parody, now a days. Right now, the Cowboys are 3-2 along with the Steelers,Patriots,Ravens and Packers, so things aren't so bad in Big D. For the times, anything short of 10-6 is a bad season for Dallas because of their history and fans expectations but I am sure there are several franchises who would love to go 10-6, period.
