Embattled Oakland coach Tom Cable will not have to face NFL commissioner Roger Goodell this weekend while the 1-3 Raiders are preparing for Sunday's game against the undefeated New York Giants at Giants Stadium, an NFL league office source said. The NFL office has been monitoring developments with the Napa Police Dept. and the Napa District Attorney's Office as the criminal investigation continues into whether Cable attacked and fractured the jaw of assistant coach Randy Hanson during a coaches-only training camp meeting Aug. 5 at the Marriott-Napa Valley.
It was widely assumed the commissioner would schedule a meeting with Cable while the Raiders are on the East Coast. But a looming owners meeting in Boston on Monday and Tuesday makes any sitdown between Cable and Goodell this weekend logistically impossible.
Meanwhile, Napa district attorney Gary Leiberstein continues to review evidence presented to him by Napa police.
"It is under review by our office, and we do not have a time to tell you when that review will be completed," Leiberstein said last week in a recorded message on his media phone line. "But just know that we are taking it very seriously and fully reviewing the reports, and ultimately I as the district attorney will review the case and confirm the final decision."
Lieberstein has indicated he will only update the message line when he has further information to release.

Come on Nancy ... this is an interesting story somehow??? Give me a break! So far all you or any other reporter has written has all been based on Hanson and his attorney's view which is giving this way too much credibility and you know it Nancy. The punk Hanson has got a big mouth and has a history of digging himself a hole and you continue to mouth the same old crap without any real facts from the case other than Hanson's attorneys words. It was the press that made this meeting with Goodell to begin with based on pure speculation ... in fact Nancy ... did you make this one up too? What are you going to say about your credibility when it comes out that Hanson started this ruckus and Cable simply handed him his clock like he deserved??? Same old media negative hype on the Raiders ... much like the political conservative hate machine ... just stir the pot with BS spin and hope your story morphs into something worth reporting about. Cable will get fired soon enough because he is a lousy head coach ... and Al Davis is mentally insolvent ... he has been for years now and all Raider fans know it ... but this BS spin about Hanson is getting ridiculous ... just like this so called "meeting" you set up in your head Nancy ... boring ... stupid ... and not a real story! With all the witnesses being defensive coaching staff ... You can't figure out that Hanson doesn't have a real case because the witnesses will end up telling that Hanson went off as he was calling coach Cable a liar and the little wimp pushed or put his hands on Cable first and was taught a valuable lesson about what having a temper tantrum can result in! Weak story Nancy ... the cancellation of a meeting you made up in your own head Nancy. Weak!!!

I have been a Raiders' fan since 1969 and it pains me to see how quickly the Raiders' organization has fallen. I have a friend who works w/one of the players father and if what I have been told is correct in any way, the Raiders are going to be the laughing stock of professional football for many years to come. Here's my last comment/observation about Jamarcus Russell, he is the next "Ryan Leaf" of quarterbacks. From what I have heard, be it true or not, he, Russell, is very lazy, is not a leader in any sense and to me most important, he is not very smart in and out of football. As a Raiders' die hard, all I can do is to keep praying that our team will find its winning ways, but given the atmosphere that is now engulfing that organization, well, you figure out. It's not good!!!!!!

AL was great, but time has pased him bye, he refuses any help and is getting more paranoid every year.He has invested huge amounts of guaranteed money for the last three draft picks and they are all looking like busts.I think we need to start a movement like they are doing for the Browns and oust Al.

the raiders are the new comical relief program that was added this year to get more viewers. they are the team that plays the football equivilent of the "Harlem Globetrotters" each week. next week there adding a laugh track to the Raider games so everyone can be in on the new Raiders comedy hour. The entire organization needs fractured jaws especially Russel with his dirt passes.
