In a blockbuster trade, the Cleveland Browns have traded wide receiver Braylon Edwards to the New York Jets, signaling that the Browns are in serious rebuilding mode -- and that the Jets are serious about winning right now.Adam Schefter of ESPN first reported the trade. Jay Glazer of Fox Sports later reported that the Jets sent two draft picks, wide receiver Chansi Stuckey and linebacker Jason Trusnik to Cleveland.
The NFL is investigating whether Edwards violated the league's personal conduct policy after he was accused of punching a friend of Cleveland Cavaliers star LeBron James. It's not clear whether the incident hastened Edwards' departure from Cleveland. Edwards is one of the most talented receivers in the NFL, and in 2007 he had what was widely regarded as his breakout year, with 80 catches for 1,289 yards and 16 touchdowns. But his numbers plummeted in 2008, and he's done next to nothing in 2009, with just 10 catches for 139 yards this season.

Well it's official the Browns have given up on yet another season. At least Braylon commanded double coverage, who will fill that void now? Cribbs? Furrey? Or 2 rookies?? Mangini needs to p#ss off and go mess up some college's program! His coaching style sucks, his ego is ridiculous. Any man that allows an offensive coordinator to call a QB sneak on 1st down on the opponent's 45yd line should be canned. period. I'm tired of trying to find the positive spin, there is none. mangini is a cancer, that will sicken this team over the next 2 seasons. PLEASE just end the misery after this season and try again for a new coach!!!! and assistant coaches!!! and players that did not play for the Jets under Mangini!!!!!!

You talk about cancer on a team and that was Edwards. He had one good year and has been non existant since. How many drives has he killed with dropped balls? How many times has he said there is a problem with his Michigan roots and Ohio? The truth is we have a bad team with or without Edwards. Unlike the Indians, the Browns actually got something for a big name that would have never resigned here after this horrible season anyhow. At least with our young recievers in the lineup, we will now have guys that play every down hard; not just the downs inside the opponents 30.

Hey, now you know what the Jets fans lived through. Congratulations -- you're a New Yorker by proxy. Can we interest you in an $8.00 beer to go with that heartache?

The Browns are 0-4 and if they aren't the worst team in the NFL they are right there in the bottom 2 or 3. The Man-genius (haha what a stupid nickname that was) won't last the year. Yeah, they've given up on the year. I'm a long suffering Saints fan so I feel your pain. But this is the NFL, where wait till next year actually means something, and a team can go from zero to hero in a year. Good luck next year, unless you play the Saints.

Browns Suck!!! As a Browns fan I have forgiven all the years of lousy playing, lousy coaching, and the trading away of good players. As loyal fans we are to forgive you,but yet you cant forgive Braylon!!!As I can recall we punished Ernest Byner in the same fashion, and look what happened! We will live to regret this, another dumb decision on behalf of the Browns staff.I'm tired of the lame "we are rebuilding" You have had plenty of time to get the job done already.Like the Indians lets trade away all our good players,Braylon.Winslow...who's next? I dont appriciate that now I'm force to be a Jets fan :O(

Isn't the timing of this deal a little odd considering the Jets are accused of tampering w/ Crabtree & on the very night he signs w/ the 49er's, the team that was allegedly in his ear swung a deal for another WR??? (...possibly because they found out they wouldn't be seeing this guy next year like they hoped? Obviously all speculation & conspiracy theory bu...)

Another loud-mouthed narcissistic receiver. What a surprise.
New York is perfect for this classless and minimally-talented punk.

Noticeably absent from this article is the fact that Braylon Edwards led the league in dropped passes the last two seasons.
He thinks we don't like him in Cleveland, just wait till he's dropping balls in New York!!

Why couldn't Mangini take Ghoulston off our hands? He drafted him. Now the JETS have to be the ones to overpay him. I know the reason is that fat contract.
