Charles Rogers Arrested in Michigan, Charged With Drunk Driving

We're getting pretty close to the point where Charles Rogers' potential as a discussion topic dries up. The former NFL wide receiver had yet another run-in with the law Wednesday when he was arrested for operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated (OWI) in Michigan -- the state's version of the more common DUI.

Police found Rogers unresponsive behind the wheel of his car, with the car running and in gear. Rogers failed a field sobriety test, then was charged with both the OWI and operating a motor vehicle with an invalid license, charges that could carry punishments of up to three months in jail and fines of $500.

The incident occurred in the city Novi at around 2 PM. Rogers was later released from police custody on $50,000 bond.

This is just the latest in a long line of issues for Rogers. He was the No. 2-overall pick by Detroit in the 2003 draft, but quickly turned into a bust. Rogers is currently under indefinite NFL suspension -- a fact that derailed his possible comeback in the CFL -- and has been sued by the Lions, who hope to recover the $6.1 million signing bonus Rogers received.

Back in early August, during an interview with ESPN, Rogers said he smoked pot every day and got hooked on pain pills while playing in Detroit. The team cut him in 2006.

They probably WILL get it back at some point. A signing bonus is usually privy to conditions that youe conduct is not detemental to the team, obviuosly in this case, it is.

This comment is exactly right--there isn't any of the signing bonus, you know that--and you can't get something from nothing.

Somebody acting with this much disregard for a contract and himself surely wasn't finacially prudent either.

These guys keep doing this crap because the owners themselves are sorry Mfkers or they would send these guy packing. So what there may not be a player as good but as many great players screwing up it would not take long to replace the NFL with balance teams of good players.
