In Super Bowl XLII, David Tyree provided one of those incredible moments that will forever live in sports lore. Tyree's career with the Giants did not last nearly as long. New York cut the wide receiver on Saturday, about 17 months after Tyree's postseason heroics."Like anyone else, it was a tough thing for David to hear. He's actually saying his goodbyes to his teammates right now," Tyree's agent told the Star-Ledger.
Saturday's move serves to highlight, even further, just how remarkable Tyree's Super Bowl catch was -- Tyree's an incredibly average player who made arguably the best catch in playoff history.
But no matter where Tyree goes from here -- and there's probably a team out there willing to take a shot on him (Baltimore?) -- he's got his spot in football history secured.

It struck me funny that Tyree's "agent" said "he is saying his goodbyes now to his teammates." Maybe he should have had his agent say his goodbyes for him.

I dont understand this comment? Why would he want his agent to say goodbye to HIS teammates and friends for him? Nature of the business. I read Plexico Buress' book, and he had noting but great things to say about him on and off the field. Eli too. Wish him the best, and thank him for a great memory from a great game. Good Luck Tyree

Naw Tyree is a class act all the way...dude was a hero in the superbowl and the Giants are acting like "thanks for the superbowl now get the hell out." I hope he catches on somewhere else I think this former pro bowler can make an impact on another squad.

He was never a pro bowl player, he made a fantastic catch in the biggest game of his life. Its a shame that he was cut but he never fully recovered from his knee injury last year. I hope he finds another team, but it will be as the 4th or 5th receiver, where his impact will be on special teams.

I wonder how the Giant fans will take to Tyree being cut.
I would think many of the fans will boo the coach when the season starts.
I'm not a Giant fan, but I was looking forward to see him play. As it stands now I have no interest in the Giants playing any game.
Don't be surprised if there is a little backlash that comes to be.

That's the nature of the business. Let's hope he's financially stable just in case he doesn't find work elsewhere. Always a stand up guy and a class act. Thanks for one of the greatest plays in NFL history.

Man, he was the man who took the perfect season from New England. I am extremely sad that he has been released, but I'll always remember that SPECTACULAR catch. Wow, every time I see it on the NFL channel I am awed. For the first time I actually bought the Superbowl DVD, just because I wanted to see that catch again. Wherever you end up, and I am sure you'll end up somewhere. You have a fan in me buds. A Seahawks fan loving a Giant Hero.

At least he didn't shoot himself. President Obey-me said the Giants "acted stupidly" and invited Tyree and Jerry Reese to the White House for a beer.

If there is backlash it is from people who do not follow the team. Tyree is a stand up guy who turned his life around a great special teams player who had one great catch and has pretty much been injured since then. He knew this was coming and anyone who followed the team knew he was a long shot to make the team this year. The Giants have enough problems with their receiving corps without holding onto to someone who has had trouble getting on the field healthy the past season. Good luck to Tyree and I hope you catch on somewhere.

Maybe the Kansas City Chiefs can pic him up. Cassel has no one to throw to, and trust me Bowe is not the answer at wide reciever for the Chiefs.

When you beg for millions and millions of dollars while the rest of the country is starving, I don't care if he never plays again. The greedy bastards need a dose of reality. Good bye Tyee, and hope many others follow.
