FanHouse reported Wednesday night that NFL commissioner Roger Goodell is likely to reinstate Eagles quarterback Michael Vick in time for Week 1 of the regular season. Now the LA Times is reporting that Vick (who's in town to play the Jets tonight) will meet with Goodell in the New York area today to get the official word on any remaining discipline he'll face in connection with his conviction and subsequent two-year prison term for dogfighting crimes. That would mean the Eagles would have an answer about Vick's status well in advance of Saturday's deadline to get their roster down to 53.In late July, when Vick completed his prison sentence, Goodell announced a conditional reinstatement that allowed Vick to sign with a team and play in that team's final two preseason games. At that time, Goodell said he would decide no later than Week 6 when Vick would be eligible to play in regular-season games. Many interpreted that to mean that Goodell would lift the suspension in Week 6, but in truth his decision left him many options, including one to decide before the season to make him eligible for the entire regular season.
Because Vick has said all of the right things and kept himself clean since Goodell's late-July ruling, and because Goodell's motivation in the Vick case seems to be to see the troubled quarterback return to the NFL and be successful as a player and an off-field role model, the commissioner appears to believe there's little reason to suspend him more than he's already been suspended. It remains possible, under the terms of his July decision, that Goodell could suspend Vick for one, two, three or all 16 regular-season games if he determines that's the right way to go. But FanHouse's two sources Wednesday said it appeared as if Vick would be eligible to play in the Eagles' Sept. 13 opener in Carolina."If (Vick) screws up again, he's out for good anyway, and everybody knows that," one of the sources said.
An official announcement on this could come today.

I understand that the defensive cordinator had to change the name of a couple of defenses and blitzs. No more blue-dog blitz. No more calling team mates The Big Dog. Vick gets a little emotional still.

Vick has not kept his nose clean, drinking and hanging out in a strip club is a violation of the conditions set upon him by the NFL. The dogs Vick killed had more brains than he has. Money + Low IQ = Vick

Hey john, where did you read that vick couldn't go to bars or drink? I believe the commissioners office said that was not a violation as soon as it was reported.

A stray has three outcomes.... They get lost, they die, they find a home. He has done his time. He is willing to handle any matters associated with animal cruelty. Let him tackle that challenge.
The real challenge is not the dogs it is all the distractions that go along with money and fame. Hopefully he will choose to find more Tony Dungy's to hang around with post game....Otherwise he will be another story in NFL history (unfortunately, a sad one).

The commish is sure not thinking about how the Atlanta Falcons were treated in this mess, as soon as it happened the commish put him on suspension, then the falcons were not allowed to collect the bonus he had been given due to stupid ass union saying its ok to break your moral contract with the team and the nfl and now you can't even be of service to the falcons just walk with your 18 million bonus, the he gets out of prison and gets suspended for 2 pre-season games(wow)and now the commish is going to let him play the whole season, guess thats ok since its Phildelphia (suck ass eagles) but I thjink the eagles and/or vick ought to pay the falcons the remaining amout of the bonous that the falcons have coming to them.

Wow, Vick kept his nose clean for a whole 2 months so he gets reinstated early !! Are we supposed to be impressed by that ? What a joke, with all the eyes on him he would have to be a complete moron to do anything wrong now. He should have been suspended into the season.

Goodell didn't stick to the original suspension...
the thug wasn't supposed to play until game 6....
Goodell shouldn't even waste his time issuing
suspensions because he caved ...what a joke!!!
NFL needs a guy who can make decisions and then
stick to what he said...no back peddling.......

I hope the Eagles are in last place this year. Shame on them all for selling their moral characters for the chance at a super bowl.

Vick still has not proven himself - he has a long way to go before that happens. It's hard to believe he's a changed man, but I'm hoping and praying he proves me wrong. I think he can do some good, if he's sincere. Otherwise, he has nobody to blame but himself when that little thing called karma comes back to bite him.

Who cares? haed to believe that even though he did some time he gets rewarded with another big salery pay check? Sorry but this game was built on sportsmanship and being a man kids can look up to.And hes got none of that. how can any person who can stand by and watch a defenseless animal being forced to kill each other be seen as anything but a role model ,some times i think there has to be a bigger price for selling out to the public who has to pay the ticket price. id say godbye have a nice life.
