I think Orakpo heard what Coach Blache said about this and he made his agent get the deal done. Either way, welcome aboard!
More broadly though, this is why the NFL needs some better arrangement for dealing with rookies. It's one thing for them to want to be paid like top veterans, but it's another for them to be holding out when they need to be at every practice more than anyone else.

Now people are beginning to see why Crabbtree was passed up by several teams who could have used a quality reciever ... he's an overblown ego as a rookie and hasn't played a down. I shook my head when I heard he blew off the Raiders when they interviewed him ... another head case ... just what the 49ers need! Ah well ... until the owners quit throwing huge sums at these unproven rookies I don't want to hear how rough they have it! There should be a cap with room for performance bonuses at best ... guaranteeing $30 or $40 million to a player is just insane! These rookies have been pampered and spoiled in their four or five year college careers and then they develop huge egos rather than good work habits and then turn up their noses at a $25 million deal. It is insane that we pay these spoiled men that kind of money yet pay a teacher $50K a year for developing our childrens brains ... no wonder things are all screwed up!

Is anyone really surprised Andre Smith has yet to sign? He had so many behavior issues until what, the last week before the draft? So glad he didn't fall to the Skins!
