The Monday Night Football game between the But the Favre story isn't the only one to watch in this game. There's a number of interesting stories to look at for two teams that have been mentioned as playoff teams.
Jared Allen's Hit on Matt Schaub's Knee
The Houston Texans 2009 was partially derailed by two low shots by Vikings DE Jared Allen into QB Matt Schaub's knees during a regular season game. He wasn't flagged for either hit but was fined $50,000. The Texans haven't forgotten it, and though a number of them went out of their way to say it wasn't dirty, Texans RT Eric Winston is still angry about, knowing that the the offensive line needs to take responsibility because the refs or fines won't deter such hits:
"Like I said, I watched it yesterday and I'm still angry about it. That's something, like I said, that never leaves you. It'll always be a little part of you and you have to do everything you can to prevent that."Here's a video that shows the shots:

Texans Defense Embarrassed, Angry
Preseason games don't count, but the game against the Saints was an embarrassment to the Texans in all three phrases of the football. The defense performance was particularly bad, not being able to force third downs, and allowed Saints RB Mike Bell to average 6.4 yards per carry. That number can't give them any confidence given that they are about to face RB Adrian Peterson.
Texans MLB DeMeco Ryans, one of the leaders of the defense, has taken responsibility for the poor play against the Saints and says that the showing against the Vikings on Monday night will be much better. Hard for him to say, as he isn't responsible for substandard defensive tackle or defensive back play.
Favre cannot be ignored when talking about the Texans defense as a number of the Houston defensive linemen want a shot at sacking him before he dons his wranglers and tractor rides permanently into the sunset. Rookie DE Connor Barwin mentions this in a recent interview, and DE Antonio Smith included it in a blog post entitled "Get My Hands on Favre." DT Amobi Okoye says that fans have been asking him to get a hit on Favre because they are sick of hearing about him.
Hard to say who wins this matchup. Favre coming off of surgery with a team that he doesn't have his timing down with? Does he pick on an inexperienced defense with injured and disgruntled players sitting out? Or does an angry Texans team try to show off on one of its few Monday Night Football opportunities? The two times DE Mario Williams has played in prime time games, he's had 6 1/2 sacks and a forced fumble.
As an aside, backup Vikings QB and former Texan, Sage Rosenfels was very popular in Houston, with many friends in the Texans locker room. He went to Minnesota to finally get a shot to compete for a starting job, and it didn't work out that way. It has crossed my mind that Texans players would like Favre to have a poor showing so Rosenfels might gets a shot to play.

Aw shucks, that's a great idea! Whoever is in charge (that's a joke) should change the name of team to the Minnesota Favres. And while you're at it, lets honor Mister Choke Artist by renaming the stadium, the street it's on, the airport and the city itself. Instead of Minneapolis / St. Paul, it could become Brett / Favre. I can think of about a thousand other things that could be renamed in honor of his excellency! Please don't ever retire BF, I am having way too much of a good time making fun of you! And once the regular season starts, BF will be giving me a lot of new material........

Never been to Cheeseland nor am I a Packer fan. I just figure I might as well enjoy and have fun with this annual soap opera that Mister Aw Shucks likes to put us through every year! I actually "used" to have a lot of respect for him but he is rapidly becoming the NFL butt of jokes! Nice legacy to go out on......

I still say that Farve can not escape the rushing Defensive Ends. Football is a young mans sport. I think he should have stay retired. He could have made 12 million doing commercials. He even looks old. It's Super Bowl or bust. I think he is going to get hurt or get benched. The young guys are just too fast for a 39 year old QB. I doubt this ends up pretty. It's got U-G-L-Y written all over it. Farve who?

yeah whatever,
antonio smith should remember the same smack ,ray lewis was talking, before he wwas bitch slapped nationally. you dont have to be a favre fan to respect his accomplishments.so he had a half of a bad season, that started out with him being a possible fourth time mvp,i notice how the jets second half failure being all his fault, and the failure of the 60 million dollar off. line ,allowing him to get pounded, which obviously at 40 is not good.aaron rodgers had a terrific FIRST year, but the packers begin looking like the
the pre - favre packers, which we all know sucked since the 60 s, 6-10 is 6-10,close games?who cares
a loss is simply a loss.any fan that watches college ball, remembers the EXTENSIVE injurious career of rodgers, and i actually like the guy,but am also an mri specialist with 20 years experience, working with hundreds of prof. athletes. rodgersneeds to be good now, with a history of complete acl tear,it is completely inevitable,at any moment his career is over, this i am 100 percent sure of,i just think,as a fan, that the packers ted and mike especially, knew favre had to go he had too much power,no shootout,no trade within the nfc,20 million to retire, starting a benchwarmer, with a stacked team poised for the superbowl.,an educated person could
easily see that the g.b. packers hosed the guy who save them, financially, and sucessfully, why do they want him toshow up at 10million $ a pop, because merchandising took a 65 percent drop,
i love to hear all these people calling this icon a traitor, its the writers that love this stuff.the man is a winner,a competitor, the last of a dying breed,i simply put up my $$$$$$$$$,in vegas, personally i like to bet on winners, and nobody has won more, put up or shut up ladies.
and i am a jet fan,we suck ,no mtter who is qb,favres jets looked better than any jet team first half, for the love the game, and the largest collection by double in nfl films represents,
thank you,you truly are a hero, long live the king brett favre. arty n.j.

Whenever the Vikings hit a QB they always get fined. Must be the new Anti-Viking rule, right? Maybe toss in the Brady rule now to go with it.
And what about Favre getting hit with all them after the fact hits that were just after the pass.? I say an eye for an eye! Guess after that episode they quit trying to sack Favre. LOL
The reasoning is simple, you come after us, we come after you, period!
