When Max Starks stepped on Ben Roethlisberger's foot last week, every Steeler in the area's heart jumped into their throat."Everyone thought they heard a pop, too. You didn't know what happened. Luckily, it was a bruise," Roethlisberger said. But Roethlisberger's fears of a serious Achilles injury were quickly replaced by reality: he had only a bruised foot that allowed him to return to practice this week after missing Saturday's game against the Redskins. He'll be able to play this weekend in the Steelers' third preseason game.
If Roethlisberger had popped his Achilles, the Steelers' Super Bowl chances would have suffered a huge blow. With Byron Leftwich backing up Roethlisberger last year, Pittsburgh had a No. 2 quarterback who could conceivably step up and keep the Steelers' Super Bowl chances alive. With Charlie Batch and Dennis Dixon backing up Roethlisberger this year, there's more cause for concern.

Jim- are you retarded?
Seriously, Im sure he was hurt to some degree when Casey Hampton stepped on his foot. He weighs 350lbs for GODs sake!
I really really doubt it was because his lawyer needed him for a legal appointment.

Ben is a big Drama Queen. Every time he gets a hang nail he turns it into a major story and injury. As one NFL Quarterback said when asked why there are no girls in the league. His response "There is, he plays quarterback for the Steeler's"

And that "girl" wears 2 Superbowl rings. How many do you wear?

The QB that called Ben a girl is Matt Hasselbeck. I guess he was still a little upset that he lost the Superbowl to the Steelers. By the way, how many rings and trophies do Hasselbeck or the Seahawks have?

Ben IS a bit of a dramatic guy. As a Steelers fan, I have seen numerous examples of Ben flexing his injured arm, shoulder, hand, etc...only to return with flawless form on the next series. Remember his "broken toes" comment his rookie season? That being said, I doubt he is rushing back for preseason. Terrell Owens misses the preseason with a toe problem, nobody calls him a girl. These guys don't want to play meaningless games in unbearable heat. They use an injury to sit it out.
