Aaron Ross' Hamstring Strikes Again

Giants starting cornerback Aaron Ross missed a good deal of the team's training camp with a nagging left hamstring injury. So the last thing New York wanted to see in its final camp practice was Ross drop to the ground and grab at that same hamstring.

Mike Garafolo of The Star-Ledger relayed Ross' injury to the masses via Twitter, stating, "That didn't look good."

He followed up with the full details shortly therafter.
On the second play of team drills, Ross was covering WR Steve Smith on a deep ball from QB Eli Manning. As the ball was in the air, Ross went down hard and grabbed the back of his left thigh. He threw his helmet off and yelled in frustration.

Ross limped off, received treatment from the trainers and then stood and watched the rest of practice from the sideline.

It goes without saying that this is not great for the Giants. Ross started 15 games for the Giants last year, in his second season in the league, and played well.

Giants head coach Tom Coughlin said the team couldn't diagnose the severity of Ross' ailment until tests were performed, but having one of his top-two corners already dealing with a recurring problem clearly didn't brighten Coughlin's day.

"The poor kid cannot get beyond that," Coughlin said in a post-practice press conference. "He starts working his way back, and he obviously made a sudden move to try to catch back up to a receiver that was going by ... it's very frustrating because he's not had a lot of time on the field."
