Life Coach Cooley Gives Colt Brennan Advice on Jessica Simpson Rumors

On its face, it sounds implausible. No way Jessica Simpson, singer, "actress," inspiration to millions ... of preteens, would date a third-string quarterback. Particularly given that her last relationship was with the face of the Cowboys, Tony Romo.

But then I remembered that she was married to Nick Lachey, who was known more for hanging out with Matt Leinart than he was for his musical talents as a member of 98 Degrees. So maybe there is something to the rumor that Simpson and Colt Brennan (No. 3 on the depth chart, No. 1 in the hearts and minds of Redskins fans) are a couple.

I mean, it's in the latest issue of Star magazine, so it has to be true (via the Washington Post's Jason Reid).

"Colt, 26, began chasing Jessica back in July with sexy e-mails and text messages. The pair even set up webcams so they could chat face-to-face through their computers. And now, 'Colt sent Jessica tickets for his Sept. 13 game against the N.Y. Giants,' the source adds. 'And on July 31, Colt FedEx'd her a Redskins jersey. If she wears that jersey to the game, you know it means she's playing rough!'"

Brennan, who was 4 of 12 for 43 yards with an interception in Washington's 23-0 preseason loss to Baltimore on Thursday, told the media yesterday that "My life coach Chris Cooley said I should neither confirm nor deny it" the Simpson scuttlebutt.

More than a life coach, Cooley also has Brennan starring in short films, the most recent of which featured the pair clowning Romo and Cowboys tight end Jason Witten. And Brennan, who later admitted that "Me being an honest guy, I have no idea what that's about," thinks that the video might have something to do with the Star report.

"If it's Tony Romo who did that, it's absolutely hilarious," Brennan said. "And touché, Tony Romo."

Lesson: never underestimate the "blonde-hair killer."
