I might be the only NFL fan that doesn't really have strong feelings about Michael Vick being signed by the Eagles. Don't condone what he did, but I do like stories of redemption and hope his turns into one of those. Have little idea how that will work out.The NFL now has Vick's jersey for sale over at the NFL Shop, and I wonder about the people who choose to wear those. Offered for $79.99, the Web site says, "Walking around wearing this Philadelphia Eagles Michael Vick replica jersey by Reebok® lets everyone know you're a hardcore fan." Really? I don't know. Most hardcore fans I know wouldn't wear that jersey, at least until Vick does something for the Eagles but apparently local demand for the Vick jersey is high. So what do you think that an Eagles Vick jersey says about the wearer?
More Coverage: Vick Debuts at Eagles Camp
"I <3 doggy murderers?"
"Not a Donovan McNabb fan?"
"Hate PETA and like to kill stuff?"
"Sociopath?"
"I'm his relative?"
"I support the Eagles and he is an Eagle now?"
The purchase of any player jersey is a risk. They might get hurt. They might suck. They might go to another team. They might end up being a bad teammate, doing drugs, gambling, torturing and killing dogs, lie about it and go to prison. I'm just thinking if you are in the market for an Eagles jersey, that there might be better choices.
And for, I guess, the superduper hardcore fans, you can get 15 percent off a customized Vick Eagles dog jersey. A dog sporting such a jersey lets everyone know that he is for the Eagles and has room in his big puppy heart for forgiveness.
If you are bargain minded, you can go on eBay and purchase "Vick's an Eagle, Hide Your Beagle" gear for much less money.

I guess my question is why? Are you doing it to support Vick, or the Eagles or what? What are you saying about yourself by wandering about in a Vick jersey? I'm not trying to be rude about this, I'm really truly curious.

"I going to buy"--- it's "I'm going to buy ". Sheesh... This goes for everyone who posts on these articles-please check your comments before posting them. Mistakes make you sound like you don't know what you're talking about and renders your comment pointless.

“I urge NFL fans not to judge NFL players or me based on my tragic lapse in judgment. I am a good person who did a bad thing. I will use the period of my suspension to reflect, fulfill my obligations, and use this experience to make a positive impact on the lives of those who look up to NFL players.”
Stallworth did some thing bad, but look at his Character..........Vick faced a multitude of charges, and denied and lied for months before he ultimately admitted guilt. Stallworth took full and immediate responsibility for his actions, and has been sorrowful and contrite. He didn’t waste time fighting the court system over his guilt,,” Stallworth wrote. “Regardless of the length of my suspension, I will carry the burden of Mr. Reyes’ death for the rest of my life. Character!!!!!!!!!
I dont see Mr. Vick acting Sorrowful or Contrite.
The real person that lost here is Stallworth, He understands KIds look up to players in the NFL and showed great Character. Where is Mr. Vicks Character..........? As he leaves the tunnel on the field and flips off the fans that pay to see him play? Or gives Security at the airport a hard time for doing their jobs, trying to keep you and I safe when we fly, or running around with known gang members and drug dealers. Or bank rolling a dog fighting ring. You do something once its a mistake, You do something over and over again........killing your own family pet is a choice, lieing about that choice, acceptable as long as you are talented, my kids look up to the NFL players..........Mr Gooddale you let me down and my family.

Donte Stallworth gets it whereas Michael Orenthal Vick doesn't. Notice Vick got rid of his dreads and earrings. Why? I'm sure to make people realize he is truly a changed man. B&^%*^&.

That is SOOO stupid!! A crime is a crime. It doesnt matter whether you deny it or not. IT'S done. If Stallworth had SO much character then he would'nt have been driving drunk in the 1st place. He Killed a MAN. PERIOD!! I dont care that dogs are supposed to be man's best friend. He's still not HUMAN. Why cant people realize that an animal doesnt take priority over Humans.

of course he doesnt mean it, he has to say it for the media, for you idiots who fight for dog rights of dogs who are being "put down" at a drastic rate daily, who are you to judge? Hes an amazing football player, let him play!!! Its not your life or your business, id say whatever was necessary too to play the sport I love. So would you.... youve never had enough power to know what its like so you cant say what you would do in his shoes, shut the fu** up!

BT-
I understand why there may be a difference of opinion on whether Vick should have a place in the NFL. Even a strong disagreement. One of those have to agree to disagree things.
But even for those people who believe in redemption, I am curious why they feel compelled to buy a Vick jersey. I often see people wearing jerseys where I wonder why they chose to wear that jersey in public. Why a Vick jersey?
Thanks all for reading and commenting, and please to all, try to keep your comments at least semi-mannered.

For those who have not done anything sinful or wrong in life, continue to chastise Michael Vick...otherwise, let him repent like the rest of humankind and earn a living. The rest of us can. Go Eagles!

He flips off his fans, he costs taxpayers a lot of money (animal control, police, prosecutors/judges, prison), and he apparently spent more time learning how to torture and kill dogs than how to throw a football. Good riddance from ATL, and congratulations, Philly! PS You might want to tell Ms. Kendra Baskett to keep a close eye on Rascal and Martini. Was that Michael Vick hiding in the shrubbery when her dog "fell" into her pool?

Dante shows character??? How, by writing a big fat check so as to elude justice? If I did the same thing to someone in your family..I'm sure I'd be doing 20 to life!

I disagree. If the same situation happened to you that happened to Stallworth and you did exactly the same thing Stallworth did (phone 911, admit guilt) I would forgive you.
If you killed my dog I would have no respect for you. Ever. We think of dogs as pets and by extension family members. But dogs rely on their owners to do right by them. You can lie to a dog all day and they will still love you. When you lie to other people you're a liar. Plain and simple.
So let's look at Stallworth vs. Vick.
Stallworth tells truth. Cooperates with law enforcement. Is repentant of his crime. He gets a one year suspension.
Vick willing-fully participates in murdering animals. Finances an illegal operation. Lies to his employers. So what will his suspension be?
There will be a suspension. I'm guessing it will be as long as the contract he signed with the Eagles. Then he'll have to do a Pacman Jones observation period.
So buy that Eagles Vick jersey. It'll be a keepsake for a man who never played an NFL game with that team.
