It's only one game, but if you're trying to figure out who is leading the Vikings' quarterback battle, right now you should be putting your money on Sage Rosenfels.Rosenfels looked very polished and accurate in his first chance to run the Vikings offense. He completed 10 of 13 passes for 91 yards, led the Vikings on an 11-play touchdown drive on his first series and followed it up with a 13-play drive that ended in a field goal.
Tarvaris Jackson's day didn't go as well. He threw his first pass into the ground, missed on five of his first six passes and had three three-and-outs in his four possessions. He did settle down to eventually complete seven of 15 passes, but he threw for only 39 yards.
Jackson will get a chance next week to play with the first team (which means he'll hand off to Adrian Peterson instead of Albert Young), so this competition isn't over. And as pointed out yesterday, whoever wins the starting job for the season opener won't necessarily hold the job all year. But right now it looks like Rosenfels will be starting in Week One.
