Tom Brady Throws Pair of Touchdowns, Interception in Return

Tom BradyTom Brady had an up-and-down 2009 preseason debut on Thursday, but the important news for the New England Patriots and their fans is that he was on the field.

Sporting a now-familiar brace over his surgically-repaired left knee, just as he's done throughout New England's training camp, Brady played almost the entire first half of the Patriots' game at Philadelphia. He was on the field for four possessions.

New England went three-and-out its first time with the ball, but Brady marched them down the field for a touchdown in the Pats' following drive. Brady hit Randy Moss for 13 yards to start the possession, then capped it off six plays later with a four-yard TD strike to tight end Chris Baker.

Brady found Baker for another touchdown with 2:12 left in the first half to give New England a 21-6 lead. That pass culminated an impressive 10-play, 75-yard drive that saw Brady go 6-of-8 for 63 yards and sneak for three yards.

The set between Brady's two touchdown marches did not end as well for New England, with Eagles cornerback Sheldon Brown picking off a deep Brady pass attempt to Moss.

Brady finished 10-of-15 for an even 100 yards, with the two touchdowns and one interceptions. Andrew Walter replaced Brady for two kneel-downs before halftime.

New England held on for a 27-25 victory. The Patriots' second preseason game is next Thursday when Cincinnati visits Foxboro.
