Vince Young May Get a Preseason Start

After an adequate first preseason appearance, Vince Young will have four more chances to show he can do better. And according to Titans coach Jeff Fisher, he may get even get a start.

OK, a preseason start is a long way from where he was just a year ago when he was the team's undisputed starter during the preseason, but it does mean that Young would get a chance to work with the first-teamers. That could be significant because it would give him some preparation for a relief role during the regular season, but more importantly for Young it could be the part of his audition for an eventual role with another team.

Young's first appearance of the preseason could have been worse -- he did connect with Paul Williams for a touchdown, but he also threw an interception (although wide receiver Lavelle Hawkins says that was his fault because he cut in when he should have cut out) and had too many three and outs. But more than anything, he seemed to lack the self-confidence that he had when he first came into the league, even if he's sure talking a good game.

If he doesn't get that cockiness back on the field over the next four games, he likely won't get another chance to do it with the Titans barring a Kerry Collins injury -- as mentioned before, Young's contract makes it likely he'll be cut after the season.
