This should go over well: former NFL quarterback Rich Gannon ranks the NFC East quarterbacks and he thinks Tony Romo is the best of the bunch. It's hard to get worked up about such lists since they have absolutely no bearing on how the season will unfold. But that's not the point, at least for fans of the Eagles, Giants and Redskins. Anyway, here's what Gannon said on Sirius NFL Radio (via the Dallas Morning News' Todd Archer):
"I think now that he's dumped Jessica Simpson, he's got the golf clubs in the closet, he's able to focus, he's got rid of T.O., I look for him to have a great year, absorb and take on more of that leadership with the Cowboys. I just think he's got the best skills of all those quarterbacks. ... He's a great competitor. He's got a little bit of that gunslinger mentality like Brett Favre. He's willing to take chances. I really think he's probably going to have his best year in the absence of T.O."Because, really, you can never blame Jessica Simpson and Terrell Owens enough. I don't actually think either had anything to do with Romo's on-field performance, but Gannon's probably right about Romo taking on more of a leadership role with T.O. now in Buffalo.
Of course, we could do without the "he's a gunslinger like Brett Favre!" cliches because that's hardly a compliment -- even backhanded -- and I'm not convinced Cowboys offensive coordinator Jason Garrett actually approves of Romo heaving punts down the field instead taking a sack or throwing the ball away.
To the bigger question: is Romo better than Donovan McNabb, Eli Manning and Jason Campbell? No idea. Romo, Manning and McNabb are all in the conversation, although I'm not comfortable saying one is clearly better than another. What I will readily admit, however, is that Jon Kitna > Colt Brennan > David Carr > Kevin Kolb.
So if Romo re-injures his pinky this year, Dallas won't have to endure three weeks of Brad and Brooks. So there's that.

colt who? has he played a down yet in a real game? kitna > carr > kolb > colt who? on top of that, gannon is such a head case that i certainly wouldn't put any weight on what he said. other jim kelly and mcnabb, who has had more blown opportunities in the playoffs than gannon? maybe the next one will be colt who?

Since the cowgirls are the new Raider's, and jerry jones is the new Al Davis, it would not be suprising to see Vick in a cowgirl outfit. Tony Homo has proven he can't handle any type of pressure. he fails, pouts back to the sidelines, and the camera zoom's in on his wittle baby face as he looks so frustrated. It was hillarious to see vick shed a tear for his quarterback losing the game, but T.O put up his number's, where were Homo's? They need to get rid of Al Davis's twin bro, jerry jones, I don't think he know's what year it is, or if emmit and Aikmen are not there anymore.

Don't count out the Cowboys this year, that might prove to be a big mistake. If you disagree, don't blame me that Obama and the betting services takes all your money this coming year.

I do believe Gannon has got it all wrong.... it's not Tony Romo that will make Dallas great this year... it's the arsenal of the ground game with Barber, Felix Jones and Choice. Jones is extremely fast and Barber... saw him in the off-season and he is a monster... he's been working out hard. Look for some punishing runs from him.

Samm - Go to your Deadskin blog and be a good little boy. You seem to be obsessed with the Cowboys! If you insist on basing your comments on past history, then your Deadskins will end up in last place again. Do your homework before blogging.

Samm, thank you for giving us a 15 year window. The Cowboys won 2 Superbowls ( 3 if you would have given us a 16 year window ) and played in 3 NFC Championships.
Compared that to your Redskins last 20 yearssssssss, then look in the mirror and see who the idiot really is. For the majority of the past 12 years that the Cowboys have not been to the playoffs, other that the Giants 2007 SB win the NFC EAST has not done so well as a whole.
