Vince Young Esquire InterviewVince Young has had a lot of ups and downs in his football career (mostly ups at Texas, mostly downs in Tennessee) but he's always remained one thing: awkwardly chugging tequila shirtless at a party full of dudes making it rain a very talented athlete.

So it's no surprise that when he sat down with Esquire (you can read it here or wait for the mag to come out in a few days) for a reflection-filled and future-gazing interview that he discussed his potential and his hopes for his career as an NFL quarterback. But even despite his past success, his prognostication for the years to come seem a touch high.
I don't know when I'll start again. But I will be the next black quarterback to win a Super Bowl. And I will be in the Hall of Fame.
See? That's kind of awesome that he has such delusional high hopes for the future; giving up now would be pointless, even if he's only competing against Kerry Collins.

He needs to work on the first part of his statement (becoming a starting quarterback) before he focuses on the next part (a Super Bowl-winning quarterback), much less making it to freaking Canton.

Not saying he shouldn't shoot for the stars or anything, it's just that, sometimes, baby steps are good too.

But then there's also this little problem: Young's not exactly the only black quarterback in the NFL. There's David Garrard (on a much improved Jaguars team), Donovan McNabb (the Eagles were almost there last year) and/or Michael Vick (who could end up beating him on a Wildcat-style technicality), to name a few.

My point, of course, isn't that Young won't be the next black QB to win a Super Bowl, it's just that, well, there are already lots of good African-American signal callers in the NFL and, as everyone knows, there's only one Super Bowl winner every year.
