Michael Vick is free to sign with any NFL team that will have him, he can participate in training camp, and if all goes well, he could be back in the league by Week 6.
Via her NFL sources, FanHouse's Nancy Gay wrote about potential Vick landing spots: the Dolphins, Patriots, Raiders, and 49ers. All, to varying degrees, make sense (even if fans might disagree with the idea of Vick being allowed to earn a nice living playing a game and wearing a funny outfit).
But the News of the Weird gets weirder. Bloomberg Sports (I'll be honest, I had no idea Bloomberg covered sports) also mentions, via "one online betting site," that in addition to the Patriots, the "odds favor the Steelers signing Vick."
The Patriots I get. Bill Belichick has had success with reclamation projects, Corey Dillon and Randy Moss the most recent examples. But Pittsburgh? Yeah, I don't see that happening. I'll conservatively put those odds at infinity-to-1. And not so much because of all the baggage Vick brings with him, but because I don't know where he'd fit into the Steelers' offense.
They're set at quarterback, and the only issue is to decide if Dennis Dixonwill challengeCharlie Batch for the No. 2 gig. There's a glut at running back, and Vick doesn't add experience to an already inexperienced bunch of backup wideouts.
Plus, with the recent Ben Roethlisberger news, I can't imagine head coach Mike Tomlin would want to bring more attention to off-field goings-on with the season just more than a month off.
The lesson: don't rely on "online betting sites" for news.
Vick should be the starting QB somewhere - he needs to go to a team that needs a QB upgrade - The Steeler's and Patriot's already have good QB's. People are wrong Vick is still most effective and dominating at the QB position - so much so, that if a team has an above average defense, and only an average offense - you add Vick to that team - and they are a superbowl contender.
Any team who brings in Vick to be it's starting QB needs to have its GM strung up by his toes for all the loyal season ticket holders to beat like a piñata.
He's not a good QB. He's an average QB at best who, despite having a "cannon" for an arm, barely completes 50% of his passes and throws as many picks as TD's. He's undisciplined in the pocket and gives up on receivers far too early.
And as brazen as he gets in the open field, he's one clean tackle from a LB away from spending his first season back on the IR.
It's a sad day for the NFL or any team that would take Vick. Professional football is a privilege, not a right. Vick's dogfighting operation killed, injured, and abused a lot of dogs that won't have a second chance. Vick should take a regular job like everyone else. His dashed dreams can remind him of the cruelty he caused.
Let him play and leave him alone. He did his time. Vick didn't sell drugs to school childern, rob a bank or murder anyone. The punishment didn't fit the crime. If Vick had been white he would have gotten a slap on the wrist and be playing ball right now. If you don't want to see him play, turn the TV off on Sunday and take Fido to the park. I know that we obsess about our pets in this country but this persecution has gone far enough. It is time to move on and leave the man alone.
I don't hear anyone concern themselves with the fans of the team for which Mr. Vick might play. I am a cowboy fan from the days of them playing at fair park. Jerry Jones has had the propensity to bring in controversial types, ie Packman. T.O. and Tank Johnson. Non of the above could compete with the intrinsic disaster that haunts Mr.; Vick's mind.He is as twisted as they come, and whatever owner bids for his services is putting the business of the game well over nobility, decency and ethical behavior. Bring him to Dallas Jerry, and you may see an exodus to the Meadowlands and Eli Manning
Really though, can we take it easy on the dogfighting comments? We all know how everyone feels about the situation, but can we keep the discussion football-related?
i'm a big fan of reading comments, but every time there is a vick post there's a bunch of comments about how he killed dogs. Yes, we know. Yes, it's awful. That's not what the post is about.
The post is about football, and where he is gonna fit now that's he's eligible for the nfl. bringing up his past activities is NOT going to revoke his reinstatement.
Can you please keep your personal sentiments about the individual out of it?
Why does no one bring up the interstate gambling implications of Vicks actions? I believe this has more relevance to the NFL than the visceral emotions generated by dogfighting.
I believe Vick has been punished enough. The dude from Clevland got 30 days for driving drunk and killing a human. I also dissagree that Vick makes a team a contender, hes just Kordell Stewart reincarnated
Why should Vick be a starting quarterback somewhere?? (one posters opinion) He wasn't a good quarterback when he played.. Did he get better these past 2 years??Who was there to see it???
Can't believe any steeler fan would want this guy...after all the steelers are the world champs with Big Ben....also can't believe someone would post about vick making a team a superbowl contender...As an eagle fan I am glad he isn't coming to Philly! Don't be surprised now that favre has rejected the vikings that he goes there..I agree with the post that playing in the nfl is a privelege not a right....
I am glad that Michael can play again. I don't understand how Goodell can tell if a person has remorse or not. Is He GOD? (NOT)! Michael served his sentence and then was handed another by Goodell the Grime Reaper!!!!!!!!!!
He would be O.K for a back up Q.B. at minimal pay.You never know when Big Ben is gonna go down ,the way he plays.I love him and love how he plays but he puts himself out there quite a bit.I think he's better than Batch. But as long as Ben can stand up he needs to be our guy. I'm not saying go after him but it's just a thought.

I'd love to see Vick on the Pats, although I think he'd be better suited on a team that runs the Wildcat. He would be perfect for that.
