If the reports that Michael Vick is facing a four-game suspension play out, his already difficult job of convincing a team to sign him just got tougher.Throw aside the concerns about the public relations hit a team would take for signing Vick. Just on purely football grounds, it's tough to sign him with the knowledge he'll miss four games. If Vick was a wide receiver, a running back or a defensive back it wouldn't be that big a deal. He'd sit out the four games, then work his way back as a backup who could eventually challenge for a starting job.
But as a quarterback, things are a whole lot tougher.
Several teams only carry two quarterbacks on their active roster, while those that carry three usually have a pretty firm pecking order: you have the starting quarterback, the veteran backup and the young developmental QB. A four-game suspension wipes out any chance Vick had of being a team's starter coming out of training camp, and he's obviously not going to be an inexpensive No. 3 QB either.
So his best bet if he wants to sign right now is to land with a team as a veteran backup. If he is suspended for four games, a team signing him won't have to worry about finding a roster spot for him until after the suspension is over. But during those four weeks, he will also not be allowed to participate in practice or team meetings. So when he comes back, the team will have to either clear a roster spot for him to carry an extra quarterback in the short term (until the team believes Vick is ready to be the primary backup) or cut whoever was filling in as the backup and hope Vick can get up to speed extremely quickly.
It's not an impossible scenario, but it seems to be an even better fit for Vick to wait and see what team has a quarterback injury. By the end of Week Four last year the Chiefs had already seen two of their top three quarterbacks go down and were talking to Daunte Culpepper, the Patriots knew they would be without Tom Brady for the rest of the year and the Lions had quarterbacks running out of the back of the end zone. It wasn't too many weeks later that Carson Palmer was done and the Bengals were throwing Ryan Fitzpatrick to the wolves every week. If Vick wants an assured paycheck, it's probably best to latch on with some team quickly. But if he wants to find a team that will give him a chance to show he can still play, it might be best to wait a little while.

Do fans who do blogs actually go out and do any investigative reporting themselves? Or do they just report on the results of the hard work that professional sports reports have done?

Mike is going to stay in trouble. If it is true that he was at a strip club with Allen, trouble, Iverson then he has learned nothing. He stunk in Atlanta so why would a team want trouble and a half ass quarterback?

Personally, I would think the "people" who love, like, follow, watch football would be livid in any team taking this scum--excuse me, I should say man I suppose. The almighty dollar will eventually get him signed I suppose if it's believed he can help said team. Isn't it sad when the "almighty dollar" out weights right or wrong?

Good example the NFL is giving. You can be a criminal for 7 years, torture animals, go to jail for a few months and go back to being a celebrity. Next, Goodell will hire Maddoff to be the financial consultant for the NFL. 4 game suspension is a joke for all the lack of integrity and remorse Vick has shown.

Goodell isn't who we thought he was if he lets
VICK play again in the NFL....He can find a
job somewhere else but he doesn't deserve to
play in the NFL ever again...He is an abuser,
torturer, and a dog killer...how cruel and sick
is that?...what does it take for Goodell to
decide this guys future in the NFL?...it can't
be that hard....so dramatic all the waiting....
wish him good luck in his future (wherever that
maybe) and take away his privilege of playing
in the NFl....a report says he got into illegal
dog fighting at age 8....when he got older he
still chose to remain in this ugly game........
now after 21 years of it he got caught ....what
a crock now that he should return to the NFl
to a career that he didn't appreciate in the
first place...if this guy is allowed back into
the NFL then throw out all personnel conduct
policies and fines, punishment....because none
of them matter....Goodell needs to show some
grit of his own ...the only reason Vick wants
back in the NFl is for the $$$$$$...he does
not possess the morals, character or sports-
manship of a person that should be wearing any
NFL uniform....he is a lowlife....disgrace....

You can judge a person by the way they treat animals. He is a piece of garbage and hope he never gets signed again. Why should he get a second chance. He is ruthless and I hope the world treats him like the person he is.

There's going to be a whole bunch of "Vick" haters rallying around if he's lucky enough to get his reinstatement to play in The NFL with a 4 game suspension...But I'm willing to bet that once he's back playing and get the rust out and start winning games...people will forget all about the foolishness he was involved with...Now before people start posting smart a** comments, take a few minutes and reread what's written. I'm not agreeing, condoning or over looking what he's done because that was cruel and inhumane any way you look at it, but The NFL is a business and with any business as long as money is being made the CEO's and owners in most cases will turn a blind eye and as sad as it is...you know it's the truth.

The man faced the music he has just as much right to continue his career. Just like anybody else leave em' alone.
P.S. I am not a Vick fan period personally or on the field I don't care one way or another if he signs with a team, but if it's for the crime he already paid for it's wrong especially while there is wife beaters and murder suspects on the field. Only God can judge him now. He has been punished and all his millions are gone he got through it he deserves the right to reclaim his life.

It's pathetic. He will get rewarded for running a gambling ring for 7 years, torturing and killing hundreds of animals. 4 game suspension is a joke.
