Tony Romo Takes Jessica Simpson for a Ride in the Old Dump Truck

Tony Romo and Jessica Simpson are reportedly no longer dating, having broken up some time at the end of last week, according to a breaking newz report today in PEOPLE magazine.

And, according to the mag, the deal went down as awkwardly as possible, with Romo skipping out on Simpson's birthday party to kick it with his boys. This was, presumably, because Simpson had a "Ken and Barbie" themed party planned, which generally will kill off any relationship.

"She is heartbroken," says the source. "She loves Tony. But it's been difficult lately. He's busy with his career and she's getting ready to shoot her show (The Price of Beauty). They decided to part ways."

[...] The source close to Simpson is sad that the longtime couple broke up. "They were good together for along time," says the source. "But I guess it wasn't meant to be."

I mean, really, though -- who thought this was going to end in some happily-ever-after styled celebrity wedding? ... Because I'm not seeing a lot of hands raised, I'll assume you will all quickly agree with me that the Romessica relationship was nothing short of annoying for sports fans.

Well, unless you dislike the Cowboys and think that Simpson caused the Cowboys' downfall (entirely possible, I say!), in which case you might be pretty stoked. Of course, if you're a fan of the 'Boys, you're likely pretty excited about this breakup -- many folks believe Romo always choked under the pressure of having his ladyfriend gazing down from the Cowboy Stadium skyboxes. Just realize that now the only legitimate excuse for Romo stinking up the joint this year is Jerry Jones' willingness to let Terrell Owens walk.

Of course, my first reaction to the breakup news was: "Wow, this should help Roy Williams' fantasy football value," so maybe I have ZERO business judging anyone's love life.

Maybe now Romo can focus on football, getting in football shape and winning, when he stops trying to be a Favre gunslinger and settles down to doing the job he's paid for, he may be a decent qback, time will tell, so far I'm not impressed.
