Tennessee Titans coach Jeff Fisher, who coached Steve McNair for his first 11 seasons in the NFL, remembered the slain quarterback Monday as a loving husband and father and a good man both on and off the field. He also spoke for McNair, even apologizing on McNair's behalf and suggesting that McNair would want to say he's sorry for his relationship with Sahel Kazemi, the woman who allegedly killed him and killed herself.
"The Steve McNair that I knew," Fisher said, "would want me to say, 'Sorry. I'm not perfect. We all make decisions sometimes that are not in our best interests. Please forgive me.' The Steve McNair that I knew would want me to say, 'Celebrate my life. For what I did on the field. For what I did in the community. For what kind of teammate I was.' That's what the Steve that I knew would say."
Fisher was in Iraq for a Fourth of July weekend USO tour, and he found out about McNair's death when former Titans running back Eddie George reached him on the phone in Kuwait. In the video below, George reflects on McNair's life:
He will always be remebered as a great football players that was from Mississippi! If the young lady had it so good ,why kill him?I just dont believe she did it!
She killed him because he was about to take it all away from her. The lifestyle she had grown so accustomed to was about to be gone. She had gotten a DUI a couple days prior in his Escalade and I'm almost certain he had told her it was over or was trying to tell her it was over. Then, BANG!
She Juiced him.Wonder if the rest of the Pro-Athlete will think more with the head above their numbers instead of the head below their numbers. Noooooooooooo, thinking's not in their game plan.
As far as I am concerned he had no business having an affair with another woman when he had a wife and kids at home. He was just another well known football player that thought he could do whatever he wanted to and get away with it. The woman was much younger than him and I am sure he promised her the moon. Where is the sympathy for this poor girl who killed herself over this adultrous man? She is gone to folks. He had NO business being with her in the first place. Cuss me out all you want to, I don't care. It,s about time we called adultry what it is. He was wrong and in the end he paid sadly with his life and left his wife and kids to pick up the pieces.
Amen..Wanmo20. couldn't have said it better. sad but true. i may not feel as sorry for the girl after all she knew he was still legally married. But I feel for his wife and kids. That is not a story you want to carry for the rest of your life, but thanks to him they will have to. That's what he will be famous for now. It's just my opinion, I am not trying to be God and judge but that is one of his 10 commandments. Mrs McNair, may God watch over you and the rest of your family and the souls of your husband and this woman is his to do what he may.
Yes, adultry is very wrong. What peace did she bring to herself by killing him. She would have found another sugar daddy. His wife in all probability would have forgiven him and tried again for the children. He was wrong but he did not commit an unpardonable sin. My husband did the same thing but I didn't kill him. Believe it or not, we are still FRIENDS.
So, you don't think she knew this well known professional player was married? She knew, she rolled the dice, lost and felt as if he should pay with his life
I so agree with you on this. had he been home with his family two families wold not be in the turmoil that they are. I have so much trouble feeling sympathy for him because he was out cheating when this happened.
what kills me you all say pro-athletes do the cheating because they can get away with and are above others however I see it in everyday life... it is not right but forgiveable... we all ahve mental lapses and make choices that are poor... he shouldn't have died for it.. do I like what he did no.. but he did a lot more good than bad... maybe he realized his mistake but the young lady didn't agree... it is sad... we shouldn't judge and the comments are ridiculous.. but par for course..
...WHEN U DO BAD THINGS, BAD THINGS HAPPEN, I WAS DISAPPOINTED TO LEARN OF McNAIR'S DEATH, AND EVEN MORE DISAPPOINTED TO HEAR HE WAS MARRIED, 4 KIDS, WIFE, AND SCREWING AROUND WITH ANOTHER WOMEN; I DONT UNDERSTAND MEN AND WOMEN WHO GET MARRIED KNOWING SCREWING AROUND IS THEIR TRAIT, RATHER THAN MONOGAMY-HOPEFULLY MORE MEN AND WOMEN WILL THINK OF THIS SITUATION BEFORE SCREWING AROUND ON YOUR SPOUSE-R.I.P. McNAIR
I heard he was separated from his wife and was renting a condo in downtown Nashville. I'm not sure if this is true or not, but just what I heard, although the press isn't reporting it!
