Pace said the positive test was caused by a supplement.
"This is a situation that resulted from an over-the-counter dietary supplement that contained a substance that I did not know violated the League's policy," he said in a statement. "I am responsible for what I put into my body and I should have paid closer attention to the League's guidelines. I regret that this has happened and apologize to my teammates, the entire Jets organization as well as the fans. Hopefully, this does not distract from our ultimate goal of winning the Super Bowl."This will certainly distract from Rex Ryan's goal of putting together a more imposing defense than the Jets sported last season. Pace will still be able to practice and play in preseason games, but the first month of the regular season will be a key time for the Jets defense to gel under Ryan's tutelage.
The nominal replacement at outside linebacker for Pace, the team's best pass rusher in 2008, would be Vernon Gholston. There are reasons to doubt that the sixth-overall pick of the 2008 draft will work out well for the Jets, however. Gholston was invisible as a rookie and barely got on the field, and Adam Schefter of the NFL Network delivered some more bad news via Twitter on Thursday afternoon.
If any one man can bring it out of Vernon Gholston, it's Rex Ryan. But bad news, Jets fans: the signs from OTAs were not encouraging. In the first four weeks, the Jets have trips to Houston and New Orleans sandwiched around home dates with the Patriots and Titans. If Gholston, or whomever replaces Pace, isn't up to snuff, it could create a pretty deep hole for the Jets right from the starting gun.

What a pathetic, kiss-ass statement! I dislike sports people's apologies, excuses...whatevers! DO NOT MAKE EXCUSES! You screw up, then live with it. Forget the apologies! I have more respect from a guy that who offers nothing...and says I did it, so what and then tells you go to a hell!

The excuase is out of date, like the over the counter substance he was taking. These idiots want to take something, bring it to the trainer and get his written approval.

I'm tired of all the people complaining about healthcare for all. I'm a doctor and I have some news for you, it's not just people that don't work without healthcare. Our seniors are struggling everyday to pay for meds, dental care, etc...These are people who worked until retirement. Should we just let them suffer?

It would seem intellect doesn't match up with playing opposite to a hulk that has gold teeth or "I love Mama" shaved into his head. These stories have become an almost weekly occurence. Vick couldn't handle construction (too much work), Brady marries a supermodel (truly brainless, both of them) and education includes reading the label of any OTC you are taking AND when making comments, learn to spell and know the structure of the words.
