Broncos Expect Marshall in Camp

It's been 10 days since the last update on Brandon Marshall, the latest disgruntled Denver Broncos star looking to get dealt. Earlier this month, the organization was allegedly for a trade before they were against.

And now, according to ESPN.com's Bill Williamson, the Broncos plan on keeping Marshall, and they'll be expecting him when training camp starts.
The team still has no plans to trade Marshall. Denver's brass isn't fretting about the Marshall situation. The front office is on vacation and when the team reports to camp in late July, there is hope the Pro Bowl receiver will show. If he doesn't report for the beginning of camp, the team still expects Marshall to eventually show up.

The Broncos know they hold all the cards. If Marshall doesn't show up in 2009, he won't be paid. A prospective free agent in 2010, there is little chance Marshall will risk missing an entire season.
I get that, and don't disagree. It's just that Josh McDaniels is a first-year head coach, not much older than his players, and he's created more upheaval since arriving in January than Mike Shanahan had during his 14-year stint in Denver.

But maybe that's the point; despite winning two Super Bowls last decade, the Broncos haven't been to the playoffs since 2005, and that was with Jake Plummer under center. I'm not sure that McDaniels' "Mangenius Approach to Coaching Grown Men" is the best strategy, but, hey, winning fixes a lot. And if Denver plays well early, nobody will care about what happened this offseason.

On the other hand, an 0-3 start won't go over well with the torch and pitchfork crowd, whose membership has mushroomed since McDaniels was hired.
