Keith Bulluck sat down with the Tennessean for a Q&A this week that covered a lot of topics: his favorite Titans team, his best teammates, his toughest loss and his best game. It's not meant to be, but it almost read like a farewell speech. Bulluck is heading into the final year of his contract. The Titans have not made any moves to re-sign him. He has already said that he expects to be playing elsewhere next year, although his wish is to remain with the Titans. And when you consider the Titans track record, that's not surprising.
When you think of the Titans' franchise players since the move to Nashville what's notable is that almost none of them seem to finish their career with the team. Eddie George, Steve McNair, Jevon Kearse and Derrick Mason all moved on in free agency late in their careers (although Kearse has come back). That's not that unusual--players leave in free agency, that's what it's for. But what does seem unusual is how few long-time veterans the Titans keep.
Of the key players on the Titans (the era beginning with the team's move to Tennessee in 1997) only Bruce Matthews, Brad Hopkins and Frank Wycheck seem to fit the criteria of long-time stars who stuck around and retired as Titans.
So if you want retire as a Titan, the best hope seems to be to play along the offensive line. Considering Tennessee's past history, it won't be surprising at all to see Bulluck wearing another jersey in 2010.

Whoever you go to next year Keith i hope you do well BUT beware as the Titans did with the redskins concerning Haynesworth they will do to you..They try to hang onto great players by hanging out before offering them a contract and by that time its to late..Good luck Dude ..Steve Dublin Ireland

Keith Bulluck BEWARE the Titans will do to you what they did to Haynesworth..they will try to hang out by not offering you a new contract and the at the 11th hour try to put something on the table only to find out its to late,Then start all sorts of excuses saying that the other team tampered with the player..The TITANS need to learn how to hang onto great players and stop trying to be penny wise..Good luck Keith where ever you end up next year..Best Regards Steve Dublin Ireland
