Jerry Jones: 'I Have No Plans to Bring Adam Back'

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones put to rest any discussion that Pacman Jones would return to the team this year by saying it won't happen.

"I have no plans to bring Adam back," Jones said Monday afternoon.

It was a direct switch from Saturday night when Jerry Jones told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram that he's thinking of bringing back Jones. ESPN also talks about Jones' possible return.

Jerry Jones is a caring man and that's part of the reason why he thought of returning Pacman Jones to the Cowboys.

One major problem for Pacman Jones is that he's broke. He had severe money issues when the Cowboys traded for him last year, so much so that Pacman borrowed money from one of his bodyguards. Jerry Jones said last season he had to put a stop to the payday loans and get a control of Pacman's fiances. He's still living in a home owned by the Cowboys' owner in Prosper, Texas.

When the Cowboys cut him, Pacman had three years of NFL experience. To become eligible for an NFL pension, you must play four seasons.

Jerry Jones, if he wanted to, was trying to get Pacman another year on the field so he can become eligible for that pension, meaning he'd have a regular check coming in when he retires.

Last month, the Jets expressed some interest in Jones before deciding to go in a different direction at corner. Jones' agent, Worrick Robinson, said several teams were interested but didn't think anything would happen until training camps started. Robinson ruled out a return to the Cowboys.

But now, who knows what will happen.

Still, it's doubtful the Cowboys will bring Pacman back. The team likes Mike Jenkins and Orlando Scandrick to compete at its other corner spot opposite Terence Newman.

And while Pacman was supposed to make an impact on punt returns last year, he didn't. The team had Felix Jones fielding punts during organized team activities last week.

Even Pacman's jersey number, 21, is gone, having been taken by Jenkins.

But Jerry Jones wants to help Pacman Jones. As of right now, Jerry Jones doesn't want to do it on the football field.
