Martellus Bennett Talks Blogging, Writing a Children's Book

Martellus Bennett, if you don't know, is the Cowboys' second-year tight end who is backing up Jason Witten, considered one of the best in the game.

But this isn't about football. This is about Bennett and what he's doing right now. He blogs on Twitter, MySpace, Facebook pages, the whole deal.

Bennett even blogs for the Dallas Morning News. Here's a little Q&A with Bennett to get you through the day.

Watkins:
"Why do you blog?"

Bennett: "The blogging I do is a chance for me to express my mind. I haven't blogged in a long time. When I blog it's like a recipe. I just can't sit there and say 'Let me blog today.' It has to come to me. Any great author knows when it's time to write a book, he just doesn't go 'Oh, I'm going to write a book like this and start writing.' There are some great writers out there like JK Rowlings, Walter Dean Myers and so that's the category I'm in."

Watkins: "I hear you're writing a children's book?"

Bennett:
"Yeah, it's actually called Wally's World."

Watkins: "What's that about?"

Bennett: "Wally is a kid and he lives in outer space. So it's about kids living in outer space and everyday life as kids but in outer space in the galaxy in Marty B's planet."

Watkins: "Oh. People say you blog too much and are not focused on football. What are your thoughts?"

Bennett: "I don't care what anybody thinks about me. It's just a chance for me to have fun. You don't have to read it if you don't want to. Everybody wants me to blog about football, but I'm not going to come home and talk about what we do all day, when I did it for eight hours. I mean, I'm still a kid, 22, I like to have fun and enjoy life and live it to the fullest."
