Michael Vick's release from prison Wednesday morning in no way ensures that he's going to play in the NFL in 2009. But the mere fact that Vick is headed home has prompted a new round of speculation about which teams might be willing to give him a second chance in the NFL.
John Clayton of ESPN writes that the Rams, Seahawks, 49ers and Patriots are the teams most likely to consider acquiring Vick, when and if NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell believes Vick deserves reinstatement. Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk says to keep an eye on the Bills as a destination for Vick. And Peter King of Sports Illustrated agrees with Clayton on the Patriots and 49ers, and with Florio on the Bills, while also suggesting the Saints and Raiders as possible homes for Vick.
My own feeling is that Goodell is likely to keep Vick suspended for a lot longer than most people seem to think. Given Goodell's track record, it wouldn't surprise me at all if Goodell tacks on a full year to Vick's suspension, and doesn't reinstate him until 2010. So speculation about which team would want him in 2009 is probably going to be moot. But if he does play in 2009, my guess -- and it's nothing but a guess -- is that it will be for the Rams.

The Seahawks? Really? They pride themselves in drafting cheracter over raw tallent. Seems to me that he is a better fit for the Raiders or Bengals.

I agree...it would be the Raiders. Al Davis would make him beat a few puppies before okaying the contract.

Actually, i think the only place where he could start as the QB is the 49ers. I know Mike Singletary hasnt ruled out bringin him in and i know Shaun Hill and Alex Smith isnt the answer to represent being a starter. All those other teams are only as a back up option, which im not saying he wont get, as he could more than likely becoming, but with the Raiders having Jamarcus as their starter and acquiring Alex Garcia, i dont see them going after Vick, but the rest of those teams i could see as a back up and i will say that Vick and Jim Mora Jr, who's Seahawks head coach, have history together from Atlanta and there are alot of questions surrounding Seahawks QB Matt Hasselbeck, but i think Vick could easily get the starter job at San Fran over Smith and Hill.

^ Alex Garcia? haha you mean Jeff Garcia. Jeff Garcia is the man. I'll never forget the year 2006 he took my team the Eagles to the playoffs.

No way will Vick go to the 49ers. Hill will be a successful starter with the team-in fact he already is. The Niners don't need a QB at this point.
Vick would fit in across the bay perfectly though...

I do not believe he deserves to play ANYWHERE. And you have to admit, wherever he does wind up, all you will ever hear about is the protests, the fans hating him, and you cannot tell me that is not a distraction. Who would want that? Besides maybe Jerry Jones.

Hey, Steve, do u even know what football is? The 49ers dont need a QB? How high r u? They've needed a QB since Steve Young left! Who the hell they got to throw to their new receiver, Michael Crabtree? You think Smith and Hill is goin to fix their QB problems? Yea that's why Mike Singletary just this week was complaining about them, and he hasnt closed the door on the possibility on bringing Vick in, but hey, u'd know better than the head coach, right Steve! Dude, you are truely and idiot and unless you know and have watched the 49ers play, than u should shut the hell up!

i think you should watch some 49er games or shut the hell up. i'm not saying hill is the immediate answer to the niners woes right now, but in his starts i believe he did have a 5-3 record, and the first 300 yard passing game since...guess who, jeff garcia...(damnit i wish the niners would have kept him, loved him and his jump pass). if it wasn't for bone headed mike martz pushing for jt o'suckagain to continue to stay in the starting lineup, the niners would have finished w/ a much much better record last year.

Why can't some of you knuckleheads learn to forgive someone who is young and make a mistake. As we grow older we learn to be responsible in life. So why judge someone who has paid for what he has done. God don't like people who carry hate in their hearts. Michael deserves another chance to make a career in football. Don't hate on him because he is African American. If he was a white young man you all would be saying let him have another chance. As I have stated before it is alright to kill someone and get 19 months in jail. But not alright to do what his friends did to those dogs. Michael was a victim of idiot friends and relatives.

Vick has NOT repaid his debt to society! So what he lost millions of dollars out of stupidity and arrogance. What about the murderd and abused dogs? What about all the kids that looked up to him? If Goodell ever lets Vick play again it should be on the terms of half his salary donated to animal cruelty and shelters. That seems more like a repayment to society to me.
Vick wil never play for the 49ers!! They have too much history glory and pride as a world class organization. Dallas maybe haha. I would be happy if he never played again!

you're a clown. you're probably the same type of person that thinks vick should get a brain scan before he's allowed to play agian to see if his remorse is genuine. talk about the dumbest shiet ever (i fuggin hate those idiots @ PETA). anyways, u must be forgetting something, the 49ers, though they are my team, are not the same classy organization they used to be ever since the debartalos lost control to the yorks, things changed awfully quick.

"michael vick has NOT repaid his debt to society"
newsflash zach rb, vick owes you and society sh*t. who do u think u are? he lost a ton of money (prob more money than youd see in 10 lifetimes) and you say so what about the millions of dollars he lost. are u retarded. do u know how much money that is. the financial hit alone is extremely substantial and you say so what? im not saying he didnt deserve to lose all that money. but to act like its not a big deal makes u look like an absolute idiot.
what about the murder of dogs? he just did 2 yrs in jail and lost out on all that money. what about the kids? charles barkley said it best, PARENTS should be role models. even public servicemen and women like firemen and police officers should be role models, alot arent. and teachers should be role models. and parents should tell their kids at an early age that sports players arent role models. and that what vick did was wrong. kids are smarter than you give them credit for, and im pretty sure they can figure out what vick did was wrong! im so sick of people trying to peg this role model crap on athletes. yes they are in the spotlight. so are actors, and do they have to be role models? role model crap on athletes is BS. the fact is that athletes shouldnt break the law, not because kids look up to them.....but because ITS ILLEGAL!!!! man, people like you are so pathetic. to act like what michael vick went through to "pay his debt to society" wasnt enough for what he did, id like to see you do the time and lose the money he did. take what u make and scale it with vicks and you lose what he lost. I GARUANTEE you wouldnt be thinking that it is hardly substancial. im not saying vick didnt deserve what he got. but to think he should have gotten more is asenine!!!
to think he owes society anything is moronic and self absorbed!! he doesnt owe anyone sh*t, he has done his pennance. people like you want to play judge, jury and executioner, and want him hanged for what he did. and weirdos like peta and yourself think animals deserve more respect than humans. what he did to those dogs was wrong, but so would be giving him anything more than he got. and so would bringing physical harm to him, with the eye for an eye mentality that alot of you weirdos have. two wrongs dont make a right, but you freaks think animals need more rights than humans and care more about animals than fellow humans, from what can be gathered are animals yourselves.....u ever see a PETA demonstration???
absolutely sickening. they have no respect for other humans but expect respect for their cause. the fanatics would get alot more done and have alot more respect if they went at things with a sense of decency...

You all are wasting your time arguing. Vick will play again. Too much talent to let sit in Va. I think he will play for the redskins myself. And why not? He will be 3 hours from home, close to his parents and friends. Don't think for a second that Dan Snyder isn't thinking about offering Vick some cash. If Campbell doesn't work out...who knows?

Mick Vick is the TRUTH. There has never been a QB in history to bring that much excitement to the QB position, and lets not even talk about all the records that he has broke. If Goodwell doesnt let him play again, that is simply nothing but a racial situation. Mick Vick is the GREATEST!!!!!!

I don't see how any team would want that big of a distraction in their locker room. Talent aside what the man did was reprehensible, and no matter if he did his time and paid his fines, he is a 30 min fill on sportscenter and nothing else.
