In a cost-cutting measure after the NFL Draft, the Arizona Cardinals released cornerback Roderick Hood, despite being only a year removed from his 5-interception campaign. It doesn't appear the 27-year-old is going to have a tough time finding work for this upcoming season. In fact, he'll likely be able to land a starting job. According to Pro Football Talk, the Rams have made a formal contract offer to Hood, but that's not where the interest ends. Next, he's off to Chicago to visit the Bears, and the Lions and Browns are also interested.
Hood is a good, but not great, corner who would be a help to any one of these teams. Some factors he may consider?
- Win now. If he wants to play on a winning team after just going to the Super Bowl with Arizona, the Bears are easily his best bet of this bunch. Even if you don't believe in the Bears, you have to admit they have a much better shot at the playoffs than the Lions, Browns and Rams.
- Familiarity. He played a few years in Philadelphia with Steve Spagnuolo, who is now the head coach in St. Louis. For some players, this matters.
- Money. He could just take the most guaranteed money. We don't know who that will be at this point, but we do know the power of the dollar.
- Guaranteed starting job. The Bears would probably start him, but they have a ton of corners already in camp. He'd have a much easier path to the starting job in the three other cities.
With mini-camp activity heating up in the next few weeks, don't expect Hood to remain unsigned for long.

You forgot about the 49ers, who just lost Walt Harris for the season.
Though, I wouldn't mind having Roderick Hood as some depth. Tillman is a starter without a doubt, but Nathan Vasher has to show that he can revert back to his Pro Bowl form. Corey Graham was moved to FS, and Daniel Manning is our Nickel Back. DJ Moore is pretty talented, and should make an impact after a season of learning the system. But, if anyone were to get injured, it could change things pretty drastically, so we need some quality depth that Hood can give.
