The only thing we know about Brett Favre Unretirement Watch 2009 is that no one knows what Favre will do. So when a report out Monday said Favre was planning to have surgery on his throwing arm, that didn't necessarily mean Favre would, in fact, have surgery. And now there's another report out Tuesday that says Favre hasn't scheduled surgery. But maybe that one will turn out to be wrong, too.
The new report, however, comes from Ed Werder of ESPN, who has a pretty good track record of getting things right when it comes to Favre. Werder writes:
Contrary to reports, Brett Favre does not have an appointment with Dr. James Andrews on Tuesday and doesn't consider surgery on his partially torn biceps tendon to be imminent, according to a source. ...The one thing that's very clear is that Favre is strongly considering playing this season, and that if he does play it will most likely be with the Vikings. But beyond that, it's just going to be day after day of speculation and unnamed sources, and Favre where he wants to be, in the comfort of his Mississippi home and at the center of attention.
Favre, however, remains focused on non-surgical options, including cortisone injections and natural movements like light throwing and bicep curls that might cause the tendon to release naturally, the source told ESPN. If the tendon releases and the pain subsides, Favre is virtually certain to play again. If he has surgery and his arm strength diminishes or the pain remains, he will remain retired, the source said.

Michael - You wrote last week that Brett was retired, but might change his mind. You wrote Monday that he was scheduled to have surgery and today you write and say he's not.
Look in the mirror and see who is change their mind. I think you write this crap just so you can change your mind and write something else. You are the most pathetic writer on Fanhouse (next to Bruce Ciskie and Ryan Wilson, of course).

In my opinion, I think if the team plays at and gives 100% so should Farve. If he doesn't have the surgery, he is cutting the team short and should stay retired. If he has the surgery that means hes committed and should play. But he should give 100% like everyone else or his arm will cause him grief half way through the season. Even the great Farve is still human. This is after all a team sport.
