Last year, John David Booty had it pretty well. He was the Vikings No. 3 quarterback, which means he collected a cool $350,000-plus to stand on the sidelines with a headset and a clipboard.But now he has a lot of reasons to get nervous. If Brett Favre doesn't join the Vikings, he's set to be the team's No. 3 quarterback for a second straight year, and with Tarvaris Jackson heading into the final year of his rookie contract, Booty would appear to be in good shape.
But if Favre does join the Vikes, all of a sudden Booty would be on very shaky ground. It's hard to believe that Minnesota will keep four quarterbacks. Favre would be one, Sage Rosenfels would be No. 2 and all of a sudden Booty is battling Tarvaris Jackson for a roster spot -- and no matter what you think of Jackson, it's hard to imagine the Vikings would cut him when he's still relatively inexpensive and is coming off of his best season as a pro.
They could try to trade Jackson, but the question there is just what could they get for him?
Whatever happens, we can count on Booty to be living and dying with every Favre update.

jj cooper get your facts straight you blow hole. The quarterback situation is like this. The two top contenders are going to battle for the #1 spot. Tavaris is #1 until sage proves himself in purple. Why do beat writers think they know the facts when this guy is clearly not informed. yes
farve in , boote will be gone. He showed nothing in the pre season. nothing. Farve gets the job hands down.Tavaris will beat out sage and have to wait.

How are team is getting better, not what could happen. I want to hear what IS happening. Lets talk about people who are in the NFL. Not could or should be.

What a joke, Booty isn't going anywhere. Hes probably the best QB to ever come out of USC. With two Rose bowl wins under his belt in a most remarkable manner, and then you see a clown like Sanchez get drafted higher than him??? You all think about that for a moment, the Vikings know what Booty can do, he just needs to get a fair chance instead of being mugged by a bunch of idiot Rookies in preseason fighting for a job. I bet if Booty ever gets the chance to showcase with the starters of the team, he'll pass in flying colors. Piss on TJack and piss on Rosey! And even if Bret Favre does sign with the Vikings, they'll probably go with four QB's on the roster.
