Drew Rosenhaus: Bernard Berrian Would Be Unstoppable With Brett Favre

Brett Favre isn't going away. Just accept it, cope, and try to move on. Last week, Yahoo! Sports reported that the ole gunslinger was done. A day later, speculation suggested otherwise.

And now it's like every other offseason: Favre doesn't know what his NFL future holds, we'll spend months talking about it, and, ultimately, he'll return for one more season. Good times.

Unlike past years, there are mitigating circumstances: Favre's throwing shoulder is a mess, and on top of that, he's really, really old. Put differently: Favre 2009 won't even look like the guy who single-handedly ruined the Jets' playoff chances during the last six weeks of 2008. Maybe Vikings head coach Brad Childress has delusions of the Favre who routinely torched the NFC North during his 16-year career in Green Bay -- and perhaps Childress' reality is clouded by trying to convince the rest of us that Tarvaris Jackson is an NFL quarterback -- but that guy retired in 2007.

Apparently, Childress isn't the only person who prays to baby Jesus for Favre's salvation. Via the Star Tribune's Vikings Blog:
Vikings wide receiver Bernard Berrian could barely hide his excitement last week when talking to Chip about the potential of playing with Brett Favre. Well, Berrian's agent, Drew Rosenhaus, weighed in on the topic today through his use of Twitter.

Wrote Rosenhaus: "Look for Bernard Berrian to explode next season if the Vikings sign Favre. They will be unstoppable! BB can run deep & Favre can throw it deep."
Huh. Forgetting the obvious reasons, I have no idea why Rosenhaus would Tweet this. Maybe he's angling for more money, or maybe Drew really thinks Favre could be a difference maker. Yeah, I'm going with the former.

Also worth pointing out: last year -- Berrian's first with the Vikings -- he set career records in receiving yards (964) and touchdowns (7). And that was with Gus Frerotte and Jackson winging passes in his general vicinity. The Jets wideouts? Jerricho Cotchery led the team with 858 receiving yards, and Laveranues Coles hauled in seven touchdowns.

To reiterate: sounds like Rosenhaus is bucking for a promotion.
