Brett Favre isn't going away. Just accept it, cope, and try to move on. Last week, Yahoo! Sports reported that the ole gunslinger was done. A day later, speculation suggested otherwise. And now it's like every other offseason: Favre doesn't know what his NFL future holds, we'll spend months talking about it, and, ultimately, he'll return for one more season. Good times.
Unlike past years, there are mitigating circumstances: Favre's throwing shoulder is a mess, and on top of that, he's really, really old. Put differently: Favre 2009 won't even look like the guy who single-handedly ruined the Jets' playoff chances during the last six weeks of 2008. Maybe Vikings head coach Brad Childress has delusions of the Favre who routinely torched the NFC North during his 16-year career in Green Bay -- and perhaps Childress' reality is clouded by trying to convince the rest of us that Tarvaris Jackson is an NFL quarterback -- but that guy retired in 2007.
Apparently, Childress isn't the only person who prays to baby Jesus for Favre's salvation. Via the Star Tribune's Vikings Blog:
Vikings wide receiver Bernard Berrian could barely hide his excitement last week when talking to Chip about the potential of playing with Brett Favre. Well, Berrian's agent, Drew Rosenhaus, weighed in on the topic today through his use of Twitter.Huh. Forgetting the obvious reasons, I have no idea why Rosenhaus would Tweet this. Maybe he's angling for more money, or maybe Drew really thinks Favre could be a difference maker. Yeah, I'm going with the former.
Wrote Rosenhaus: "Look for Bernard Berrian to explode next season if the Vikings sign Favre. They will be unstoppable! BB can run deep & Favre can throw it deep."
Also worth pointing out: last year -- Berrian's first with the Vikings -- he set career records in receiving yards (964) and touchdowns (7). And that was with Gus Frerotte and Jackson winging passes in his general vicinity. The Jets wideouts? Jerricho Cotchery led the team with 858 receiving yards, and Laveranues Coles hauled in seven touchdowns.
To reiterate: sounds like Rosenhaus is bucking for a promotion.

That's a good point. Also a good point is how he single-handedly gave the Jets' a playoff chance during the first 10 weeks of 2008.

that's a good point jafay2k. Also a good point is how Favre played poorly and lost against Oakland, Seattle, San Francisco and Denver, who all played pitiful defense and averaged just 6 wins per team.
Also, wins against Cincinnati, Buffalo, St Louis and Kansas City all in a row in those first 10 games are hardly anything to brag about.
He had the big wins vs New England, Tennessee and Miami, but he went 5-4 in gimme games.
If you believe Favre can be the center piece to a playoff run, you are mistaken. If you believe Favre can perform on a pro bowl level this year, you are mistaken. If you believe that he would constitute at least a minor improvement over Rosenfels in the short run in hopes of winning something this year while prolonging indecision for Minnesota at QB in the long run, you are correct.

lol at this article. for one brett favre is at the point in his career where his numbers start to slump like micheal jordan did with the washington wizards. two the guy gives alot interceptions which are even more as he declines. yes he is huge upgrade for vikings but he will still hurt this team more by playing thats why packers traded him and jets never made any attempt to lure him back.

Ryan - let's be honest. How much is Ted Thompson paying you for these infomercials. I mean, even an person who has absolutely no knowledge of football can tell that you are an anti-Favre freak. You make it sound as if a first team receiver who gets 850 yards in a season is a super-star. You don't know much about football, do you?
Rosenhaus is not bucking for a promotion. He is talking facts. If Favre is healthy and joins the
Vikings, look out. The Purple People Eaters will be back!
