Just as he did a year ago, Brett Favre is dominating the NFL offseason. But the story now has changed: Last year we knew he could come back, but we weren't sure if he wanted to. This year we think he wants to come back, but we're not sure if he can, as new reports suggest that Favre may have a serious arm injury. On Friday Jeremy Schaap of ESPN reported that Favre had sent X-rays to the Minnesota Vikings, and that if the Vikings team doctors think he's healthy enough to make it through a 16-game season, he's likely to sign with the team.
But how likely is it that the Vikings' doctors will clear Favre to play? Greg A. Bedard of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reports that Favre's throwing arm may be seriously damaged:
Sources said then that Favre had a significant tear in the biceps tendon.I'm not a doctor, but I assume that if your finger "goes right through" a person's shoulder, that person probably doesn't have a strong enough shoulder to throw a football for a living. Favre sure seems like he wants to play, but his arm doesn't sound like it's going to cooperate.
If the injury proves to be relegated solely to the tendon and is a partial tear, Favre will likely play again. He could undergo a simple procedure, a tenotomy, where surgeons complete the tear of the biceps tendon - something that is not needed for a quarterback to throw. The rehab would be quick and Favre would be ready for training camp.
But there is a palpable fear around Favre that there is a more serious injury to the shoulder. One source said, "If you put your finger in (Favre's) shoulder it goes right through. That's not a good sign. There's a reason why he hasn't picked up a football yet."

If Favre wanted to play this year he should have already had the surgery and done a rehab regimen. He's basically wasted four months. I question how committed he is.

Football is about sticking it to the other guy. If Bret wants to stick it to the GB management (and he most definetely can on the field), thats his call.
In any event, he would receive a 30 minute+ standing ovation at the Minneapolis Metropolitan Stadium upon his entance as a VIKING QB, and half of the fans would be from Wisconsin!! They will come to fill the already overflowing stadium for the next 3 years.
Bret, as a VIKING, is excellent for NFL football and the rivalry bwetween GB and MN will
last for decades from all of this.
Bret actually looks like a real viking with his red beard and all. I think that we should call him "THOR".
