Brett Favre was going to be a Viking two days ago. 24 hours ago, he was not -- it's one of the things Wilson and I spoke to Jay Mariotti about on the HausCast last night -- and everyone was thrilled because it meant that, finally, he would leave us alone. Turns out, well, that might not be the case. In fact, it's the exact opposite: Jeremy Schapp of ESPN is reporting that the Vikings and Favre are swapping X-rays (or some-such) and that if Favre clears the Vikes' physical requirements, he may join Minnesota after all.
Specifically, if Favre requires "major" surgery on his shoulder, he will remain retired. If no such surgery is required, Schapp's source expects Favre to unretire and join the Vikings.
This report is, of course, in stark contrast to the news that broke yesterday: Bus Cook, Favre's agent, even told FanHouse that "as far as [he] knew" the gunslinger was not going to join another NFL team.
But the truth of the matter is there's no reason to believe, at least until the season starts and Favre is in "civis," that No. 4 won't be suiting up for another team, particularly if he's really feeling as vengeful towards the Packers as most reports indicate.

It's amazing how the media has a lot of negative things to say about Favre and whether or not he is coming back. HEY MORONS, YOU ARE THE ONES WHO KEEP THIS THING GOING!!!! SHUT UP ALREADY!!! If Favre is going to play, an announcement will be made after he signs the contract. If there is no release from the Vikings or Favre, it means that he is staying retired. How about some responsibility in the media??? If/when it happens report it!!! Until then, SHUT THE HELL UP!!!

Wow your retarded Favre has more money then he could ever spend. Second learn how to spell his name right before you bash the guy. I say he should stay retired but if he does come back more power to him. I used to play the game and I tore my knee. Wish I would have went back, something I'll always regret.

Yes, Favre's arm gave out by the end of the season. But look how many passes he attempted, The Jets tries to milk more out of him than he could give at 39. At least with the Vikings he would have the best running game in the league. He could save his arm by limiting him to 10 or 15 attempts a game. And now with Harvin aboard, he would fit right into what Favre does best, hit the 8 to 10 yard slant and let Percy do what he does best, yards after catch {YAC}. The jets used Favre wrong, he is very intelligent, he came in late and learned their system very fast. The Vikes have Favre's old QB coach and they run the same system Favre is used to and likes so he would fit right in. It is a risk, but if they use him right, his arm will last all season and beyond instead of wearing it out like the Jets did. Because the Vikes have the best RB tandum and an all pro O line for protection and a great D, he will be fine. Any other team would be risky but the Vikings are his best option for a return. Although being a Bears fan, I hope not.
