Brett Favre has always been able to captivate the football world. Over the last week, his oddly-timed release from the New York Jets (two months or so after announcing his second retirement) has caused a firestorm of drama and speculation.
However, a published report says Favre has decided to end the drama, and he will stay retired.
More Coverage: Agent Says Favre is Still Retired
Rick Schwartz of Yahoo Sports has the info.
The source said Favre told Vikings coach Brad Childress that he wanted to remain retired in a phone call that took place sometime in the last day. Favre is expected to publicly explain his decision soon.Assuming this is true, Favre will have rebuffed the only team most believed he would consider a comeback for. The Vikings are not only a main rival of Favre's former teammates in Green Bay, but they are also thought to be a serious Super Bowl contender if they can solve their quarterback issues.
The rumor mill heated up earlier this week with news that Favre and Childress would meet. People were subsequently confused Thursday morning when Childress was spotted walking into the Vikings' Eden Prairie, Minn., facility. Despite that video footage, many in the media stood by initial reports of the scheduled meeting.

Thank God if this is true, but Brett will probably say this and after three preseason games, say he feels the "itch" to play again, and then it begins, again.

Once again the media over blowing the Favre issue....purposly making people get sick of the topic...Favre didn't say a thing.. was all media...he even had to tell them he was staying retired to shut up the idiot media dragging his name through the mud again. He is a great QB..it's always the haters that have to talk smack about him. It's his life, he can do what he wants with his life retire or not....Media is what makes everyone sick, not Favre. plenty of other players that retired and came back many times...but because they wern't great they don't get too much media coverage...look at vinnie testaverde he retired like 5 times ...don't see anyone getting on his case..thats cuz he's a average QB. QB's that are better get more exposure because of idiot media and they blow it all up..therefore idiot haters get all bent outta shape about it all...People only hate on the greats...not the average ones...it's a fact

He (Favre) most likely is staying retired because the Vikings have kept Mr. Moron, (Childress) to coach the team. Childress has the leadership skills and creativity to be a head coach in the NFL as the man in the moon, this team will never seriously contend for a Super Bowl, until this clown is fired!

Did Chip just say that Bret Favre was the best thing the NFL ever had? Seriously? I think that big block of cheese he's wearing on his head is putting too much pressure on the portion of his brain responsible for reasonable thinking.
