The football world was all crazy Wednesday, as news surfaced that Vikings head coach Brad Childress was heading to Mississippi. The purpose of his trip was, obviously, to meet with "retired" quarterback Brett Favre amid reports that Favre wants to drive a stake into any hope of Childress retaining his job take the Vikings on a Super Bowl run. Rumors abounded that Childress and Favre were to meet Wednesday night and again Thursday morning. However, there is actual evidence this isn't happening.
Twin Cities television station KMSP, a FOX affiliate responsible for airing most of the Vikings' regular-season games, has footage of Childress walking into the Vikings' facility in Eden Prairie Thursday morning. Well, either that, or the Vikings have two bald men with mustaches working for them.
One things for sure. If a team is capable - Brett Farve can still lead them to a Superbowl. Barring only minor injuries that do not affect his play - Farve still has it and is a good candidate to help any capable team get to a superbowl - I am sure if Farve wanted to come back - it would be in the hopes of having a good season - whether they make it all the way or not - the hopes of a good season is what would draw him. He's a good competitor.
When will the haters just shut the f*** up? If Brett wants to come to the Vikings, that's his business! If we Vikings fans want him--and most of us do!!!--that's our business! How about the haters at least shut up until AFTER the season, when they can give us all the hell they want?
They're being as much wussies as the Packers management was last year--and I know most Packers fans agree with me there. If Aaron Rodgers had been ready to step up beyond mere good stats, he would've said "Let the old man back, I'll beat him out in training camp!" And maybe Rodgers WILL lead the Pack back to glory, but only when he matches those skills with that kind of gunslinger, leadership attitude.
And the head office? Nothing speaks like cowardice than to BLOCK Brett going to your chief rival!!! If Brett can't play, what's the harm? Packers management should've said, "Go ahead and go to the Vikings--we'll whip you ass anyway." Guess what--the fact that they were too chicken**** to do it set the tone for why a pretty damn good Packers team didn't win the division. (And since the team is publicly owned, I hope the public there wakes up and boots the management for it.)
But these online haters are the worst of the lot: vultures who hate Brett and/or the Vikings but are too afraid to be proven wrong--so they start a buzz trying to shame him into staying retired. Hey, unless you line in Minnesota or are a serious fan --STAY OUT OF IT FOR NOW!!!
I have been a Packers fan all my life. But last year I became a Jets fan - and if Brett goes to Minnesota, I'll be a Viking fan. The fact is it is hard to be a devoted Packer fan when we have that idiot in the front office. And to all those that think Aaron Rodgers is the next football great - he has a lot to prove.
Those that hated, will soon love. Those that loved, will soon hate. Those that of us that don't give a rip, will sit back and watch, and take another sip.
