In the latest sign that Brett Favre will never retire, a report out Tuesday afternoon says the future Hall of Fame quarterback plans to meet with the Minnesota Vikings this week.
Ed Werder of ESPN is reporting that Favre and Vikings coach Brad Childress will meet at an undisclosed location and explore the possibility that Favre could play the 2009 season in Minnesota. According to Werder, Favre and the team have a mutual understanding that he will decide soon whether he's going to play this year, and that if he decides he will play, he'll be fully committed to the team's off-season program.
Favre retired after the 2007 season with the Packers, then came back, was traded to the Jets, and retired again after the 2008 season. But the Jets released him last week, meaning he is an unrestricted free agent and can sign with any team that wants him. It sounds like there's at least a chance that the Vikings want him and that he wants the Vikings, and that Favre will play against the Packers twice in 2009.

This is ridiculous. Favre is hurting his body, hurting his image, hurting the team he plays for, and hurting the league by keeping this crap going.

It's becoming clear that, incredibly, Brett Favre will *not* be the last person in football to realize that Brett Favre isn't very good.

Don't be surprised if this is just another fine display of Ed Werder's fantastic, unrivaled journalistic integrity. Next week, he'll be exploring how Trent Edwards and Lee Evans are already making Terrell Owens feel unwelcome in Buffalo with their cliquey friendship and great chemistry

You're 100% correct! Who are we to tell a person they should retire? Personally, as a Jet fan, I loved having Brett on our team. It was the best feeling the world seeing him in Green and White. No matter what our record was, I would still have him back. Even if we went 0-16. He's just fun to watch.
And I'm sure he isn't doing this to spite the Packers franchise and the fans. I think he'd doing it not just for the love of the game, but to stick it to the packer's GM and coach. They F-ed it all up.

As a NY fan, I was interested when Favre got signed, but not ecstatic like the media. In general, I'd rather have a young, home-grown talent vs. a "great" with his best years behind him (ref: MLB; NY Yankees). Prophetically, before the first game last year, a bitter Green Bay poster said "Watch out NY. See how you like him in December when he starts throwing key interceptions." And if he was indeed injured, that's an increasingly frequent part of getting old. I actually like the guy and think he should do whatever he feels like, but Vike fans shouldn't get too carried away over the possibilities.

What do you think and say if you are Farve? Player will be player. The team will treat you like a sick dog if you have no value to them. The fans are the same. Let it be. You know what needed to be done with your thing.

So let's get this straight, you have a choice between Favre and Jackson with a team poised to make a run and taking Favre would be a bad choice. The Vikings are a decent QB away from being contenders, let anyone tell me Jackson is a decent QB. So what should the Vikings do? No question sign Favre, one year of the most exciting season Vikings fans will ever see.

This is so sad! Brett was a much-beloved hero here in Green Bay. He is ruining his legacy. Brett, just give it up and give us all a break!

If the Vikings can get a quarterback, and Favre would be a good one, then they're in the SuperBowl.

Favre has one goal. That's to be the only QB in history to beat every team in the league. The only one he hasn't defeated is Green Bay. Question is, what does he win if he beats his fan base? I wish him well. The guy bleeds class.

First of all I am a Bears fan and have all the respect for Farve as any football fan should. With that being said, it is unbelievable the way GB (Town & team) have shown nothing but dis-respect for a legend who played all those years with nothing but dignity and class. The management should have allowed him to do what he wanted even if he was unsure, they owed him that!!! GB could never come close to repay him for what he did for that town. When I hear GB fans saying it was time for him to go or time to retire, it disgusts me!! I had much more respect for GB fans prior. Now I would love nothing more than to see Farve return to GB and line up against his old team.
PS I DO NOT WANT TO SEE A WI. TAVERN OR BUSINESS WITH A FARVE POSTER, SIGN ETC. YOU DON'T DESERVE THE RIGHT TO HANG THEM, IT WILL ONLY CLASS UP THE PLACE..
