Clinton Portis Weighs in on Swine Flu

I guess it's only fitting that a doctor -- even if just a dentist -- would weigh in on the swine flu epidemic. Yesterday, Dr. Do Itch Big took a break from his other job -- running back for the Washington Redskins -- to talk to the media about the recent outbreak.

"With the swine flu going around, this water could have some swine flu in it, then all of us gonna be dead," [Clinton] Portis said during a group interview session with reporters on the field as it rained. "You should cancel minicamp, especially in bad weather. Right now in Mexico, they canceled all sporting events. They need to do that in the U.S. ... This is a scary, dangerous situation."

Clinton Portis makes a good point: communicable diseases are often transported long distances by rain clouds. Like, say, acid rain. Also noteworthy: the diagnosis. "All of us gonna be dead."

I've said it before: although the United States has the best medical facilities on the planet, doctors, collectively, could stand to tighten up their bedside manner. I mean, "all of us gonna be dead," isn't exactly letting us down easy. Just pointing that out.

And in case it wasn't obvious, Portis isn't really a doctor. Or a dentist. He's one of the best backs in the NFL who also happens to hate minicamps, OTAs and training camp, and was trying to get out of it by spreading his message of fear. One benefit of swine flu: Portis has yet to call out Jim Zorn, so there's that.

He hates Preseason the most though. I don't get why the skins risk Portis' health by giving him snaps in preseason.

OMG!! If Clinton Portis gets the swine flu, he might be out for the season!!! Better not to take a chance on him in fantasy football. lol.

He's a funny dude. You can watch the interview on the Skins website, and he's obviously joking around. Good news is that Portis and 100% of the team showed up for minicamp with no question, so they know it's time to get serious.

hey C.P.,I am down in CABO ,no pig flu here bro,but you should be taking it easy here in MEX.(save it for the season)Mason needs the practice/pre season reps any way. and one more thing,if anybody throws an interception in pre season and the skins are dumb eneough to have you in,just act like the whistle blew.seriously.you are my fantasy team
