The Lions had all the swagger of a tranquilized sloth in 2008. It's hard to blame them, really, given their 0-16 season -- at some point, even the most cocksure player on that roster (no, not Dan Orlovsky) had to feel pretty defeated. So as with all new coaches who inherit beaten-down teams, Detroit's rookie head man Jim Schwartz has set about trying to change the attitude in Motown.Schwartz wants more hard-nosed players, and guys with a little bit of attitude. Something tells me he's going to enjoy linebacker Zack Follett, a seventh-round draft pick of Detroit's last weekend.
Now that that isn't the case, what's his response to those teams that passed over him? It's probably fair to question a seventh-round pick's ability to "take out" guys in the NFL. Perhaps the following highlight video, though, will convince you he's capable.
"They're gonna pay for it," says Follett. "I'm gonna go out there and hit their players and take them out of the game.
"But I'm excited. They're going to give me a good shot over at the Lions. They're the ones who put their neck out and drafted me."
Follett played outside linebacker at Cal, and Detroit has Julian Peterson and Ernie Sims as almost-certain starters in its 4-3 scheme. Still, Follett might be able to carve out a role as a backup or on special teams for a talent-starved Lions squad. He's a bit undersized, and had some injury issues in 2007 and again before the NFL scouting combine, but what he lacks in pure ability, he makes up for in effort.
Oh, and attitude. That's certainly something Detroit could use a little more of.

He appears to be pretty quick. But what's with those puny arms? Doesn't he know that NFL linebackers have big guns? He's also his best cheerleader after a big play. He'll have to watch out for excessive celebration in the NFL. They don't want players to have fun in the NFL.

Yeah, the Lions were 0-16 last year because they had no swagger, not enough attitude. Lots of seventh rounders (and second, third, fourth rounders, UDFAs, etc) come into the league with a chip on their shoulder. Few go on to make a name for themselves.
Sorry, but what has happened to Fanhouse the past few months? I miss the old Fanhouse.

Hummbbee????????? I watched that youtube clip you suggested and saw only one time him hittinh quarterback AFTER he threw the ball. One other question, since this guy is such a stud. HOW come there are no clips of him dominating against teams like USC and UCLA? I am sure he played the 8 times in his 4 year career. Not even hardly any clips of him against ASU or U of Ariz either? Does the upper teams in the PAC ten shut him down?

Try Youtube dude. There are plenty of 'clips' of him dominating those teams you mention. And his 1st team all-Pac10 team as a linebacker is probably just bs right?
Also, did you seriously put UCLA as an 'upper' team in the Pac 10? And Arizona/ASU?
You, sir, have no clue.

I would say they are the more physical teams of the Pac-10. I am sure you have plenty of highlights Vs. Wash, Wash St. I guess he dominated in the clips below too?
