2009 NFL Draft Tracker: Round 2

Round: 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 | 7

Round 2
Selection
1 (33). Detroit Lions Louis Delmas, S, Western Michigan
Our Take: Detroit passes on Maualuga and Laurinaitis again. Delmas will help, but it's hard to believe the Lions passed on a middle linebacker again.
2 (34). New England Patriots (From K.C.)
Patrick Chung, S, Oregon
Our Take: Solid add for the Patriots secondary, especially given Rodney Harrison's injury last year. Plenty more coming from the Pats.
3 (35). St. Louis Rams
James Laurinaitis, LB, Ohio State
Our Take: Hard-nosed guy that will certainly help St. Louis' defense. Simply fascinating that Rey Maualuga is still on the board, though.
4 (36). Cleveland Browns
Brian Robiskie, WR, Ohio State
Our Take: Back-to-back Buckeyes and Robiskie could wind up being a solid NFL receiver. Did the Browns just replace Michigan product Braylon Edwards with a local boy?
5 (37). Denver Broncos (From Seattle)
Alphonso Smith, CB, Wake Forest
Our Take: Smith's a nice player and Denver needs defensive help, but a 2010 first-rounder for this spot? That seems like an inflated price.
6 (38). Cincinnati Bengals
Rey Maualuga, LB, Southern Cal
Our Take: The third USC linebacker finally goes. Did Cincinnati just get a steal, or will the reasons Maualuga fell so far come back to haunt the Bengals?
7 (39). Jacksonville Jaguars
Eben Britton, OT, Arizona
Our Take: Are the Jags just starting a 10-tackle offensive line and a QB next season? Britton's actually good value here, but does he fit?
8 (40). New England Patriots (From Oakland)
Ron Brace, DT, Boston College
Our Take: It cost the Patriots three picks later in the draft, but New England adds a steady big body for its d-line.
9 (41). New England Patriots (From Green Bay)
Darius Butler, CB, Connecticut
Our Take: Love this pick for the Pats. Butler's a great athlete, and a team could've justified taking him in the first round.
10 (42). Buffalo Bills
Jairus Byrd, CB, Oregon
Our Take: Byrd won't be a dominant, lock-down corner, but he will make some plays and do a nice job outside for the Bills.
11 (43). Carolina Panthers (From San Francisco)
Everette Brown, DE, Florida State
Our Take: A great move up by Carolina, because Brown is a very good pass rusher. His fall is a bigger head-scratcher than Maualuga's.
12 (44). Miami Dolphins (From Washington)
Pat White, QB/WR, West Virginia
Our Take: Miami had its eyes on White from day one, and he'll add yet another dimension to the Dolphins' wildcat offense. This is a nice addition.
13 (45). New York Giants (From New Orleans)
Clint Sintim, LB, Virginia
Our Take: Remember this name. Sintim sort of floated under the radar, but he's a very solid player and is a great addition for the Giants.
14 (46). Houston Texans
Connor Barwin, LB/DE, Cincinnati
Our Take: An exceptionally versatile, hard-nosed player, Barwin will be a fan favorite in Houston.
15 (47). Oakland Raiders (From San Diego via N.E.)
Michael Mitchell, S, Ohio
Our Take: Mel Kiper is adamant that he had Mitchell scouted as a post-draft free-agent signing. We'll go with that, because this is a gigantic reach.
16 (48). Denver Broncos
Darcel McBath, S, Texas Tech
Our Take: This one makes a lot more sense than Mitchell. McBath is a decent talent who had a solid college career.
17 (49). Seattle Seahawks (From Chicago)
Max Unger, C, Oregon
Our Take: He doesn't really look like an All-Pro talent, but he's a good depth guy and might wind up starting.
18 (50). Cleveland Browns (From Tampa Bay)
Mohammed Massaquoi, WR, Georgia
Our Take: OK, Braylon's close to being gone. Back-to-back wide receiver picks for Cleveland, and back-to-back receivers with good size and pass-catching ability.
19 (51). Buffalo Bills (From Dallas)
Andy Levitre, OG, Oregon State
Our Take: With first-round pick Eric Wood, Buffalo has now added a couple of solid interior linemen. Levitre's nothing sensational, but he can block.
20 (52). Cleveland Browns (From Jets)
David Veikune, DE, Hawai'i
Our Take: Undersized and not a big name, but Veikune never stops once he gets on the field. He'll be helpful in Cleveland.
21 (53). Philadelphia Eagles
LeSean McCoy, RB, Pittsburgh
Our Take: McCoy fills a huge need for Philadelphia, and could wind up being a star in Philly. He's identical to Brian Westbrook and very good with the ball in his hands.
22 (54). Minnesota Vikings
Phil Loadholt, OT, Oklahoma
Our Take: There was some late chatter that the Vikings might chase Loadholt in the first round, so they'll be happy to get him here.
23 (55). Atlanta Falcons
William Moore, S, Missouri
Our Take: Great athlete that could turn into a very good defensive backfield player down the road. If nothing else, he'll be dynamite on special teams.
24 (56). Indianapolis Colts (From Miami)
Fili Moala, DT, Southern Cal
Our Take: The Colts wanted a guy to help anchor their defensive front, and Moala should help at least add depth up there.
25 (57). Baltimore Ravens
Paul Kruger, DE, Utah
Our Take: Another one of those grinder-type guys that Baltimore seems to love. Kruger will bring it on every play.
26 (58). New England Patriots
Sebastian Vollmer, OL, Houston
Our Take: This is a bit of a project pick. Vollmer needs time to develop and get bigger, but he could fill out and be a decent prospect.
27 (59). Carolina Panthers
Sherrod Martin, CB, Troy
Our Take: Had a good season in 2008 and seems like a guy that might be able to play multiple secondary positions.
28 (60). New York Giants
William Beatty, OT, Connecticut
Our Take: Another great value pick for the Giants in the second round. Beatty received first-round grades from some, and should see the field plenty.
29 (61). Miami Dolphins (From Indianapolis)
Sean Smith, CB, Utah
Our Take: Speaking of great value picks, Smith might turn out to be amongst the better ones in the draft. He's a very talented athlete.
30 (62). Tennessee Titans
Sen'Derrick Marks, DT, Auburn
Our Take: Made a questionable decision to leave school early, and has durability concerns. Still, if he matures and is healthy, he's absolutely got ability.
31 (63). Arizona Cardinals
Cody Brown, DE, Connecticut
Our Take: A three-year starter, but Brown's kind of a 'tweener, and so he'll need some time either to bulk up and play DE, or add quickness and adjust to OLB.
32 (64). Denver Broncos (From Pittsburgh)
Richard Quinn, TE, North Carolina
Our Take: Tony Scheffler's unhappy, so this might be a preemptive move to ensure Denver has enough tight end depth.
